Another day, another set of parts installed. We were slow in the shop this week so I was able to get the springs mounted up. Installing the new shakle bushings in the frame brackets and spring eyelets was just a blast. How come nothing fits? Well it does now. It is nice to have a buddy who owns a machine shop that is only a block away.
Spindles mocked up. Ugly bolts. Soon to have matching style. This is only for the purpose of Set Up. |

Alright!! Another week and much more progress. I went gangbusters this week on the 50'. Have a look.
Ready for prep. These cleaned up nice. Fitting everything together. Right side is done. Slight difference between the old and the new. Driver side coming together. Don't mind the mess. Heavy duty Tie Rod. Here is some fitting for the HotRodWorks adapter plate. Setting in the 235 L6 T-5 cuddles up nicely Probably not the wheels that will end up on her, but they look dang good. And she is on the ground!!! I could not find any more lug nuts to mount the rear wheels. Almost 2 months to the day we have the Mock-Up done. Here is to progression. So next week I will line up the engine and mount the tranny cross-member. Then she is off to have the driveline built and new rear gears installed. See you all next week. |

Here we are again. More time, more progress.
Got the shop cleaned up a bit and the wheels bolted on. The Cross-member built and installed. More shots of the frame. Now we transport the cab and the other parts to the paint shop for sealing and primer coating. Next is transporting the frame to the DriveLine shop for new gears and a drive line. Yes, I dig my Suburban too |

Another new week and many more new photos.
The Frame was picked up from our DriveLine shop New DriveLine and a sweet set of 3:55 gears. Had to get a new axle and bearing kit too. But that is the life of rebuilding. Next step is back in the shop. Time to take off the Front axle. Engine is out and ready for paint. The frame is mounted to the rotisserie and stripped back down to nothing. Not that the next images have anything to do with this Truck build, but we like Hot cars and such so here is what I was doing while the frame was getting the drive-train built. As she sits in all her glory. Notice the cage inside. Yes, she needs that. Pulled the 6 speed for another project and I am reinstalling the 4 speed. But while we are doing this, let's freshen up the engine too. With the Camaro engine at the machine shop, and the Truck frame ready for powder coating I needed something to fill my time with. NEXT!!! The 6 speed found a new home in the 69' RS Z28. In pieces. And She is DONE!!! Next on the agenda is fitting the rear mounted gas tank and sending the frame down the road for powder coating. The Cab and other such body panels are still getting the work they need at the paint shop. I am expecting by the end of August this truck will be all back together waiting for the body. Last thing before I take her down to get Powder Coated is the frame for the rear mounted fuel tank.
I saw a few very good ideas on how to go about this. We wanted it to sit way in the back and NOT fill from the bed. With the addition of the rear roll pan we decided on having it fill like a 1969 Camaro. Got a Fuel tank from a 69' Camaro. Will have the license plate frame to match also. Have a look. Good morning Truck guys. Things have been really busy in the shop the past few weeks and I have not had much time to work on the ole' girl. But this week was different.. Got much done and took the frame back to get cleaned up and powder coated.
Bring on the pictures. A little on the engine 1st. We have a built 235 out of a 57' Chevy. A little head work but nothing to submit to Hot Rod magazine yet. HAHA! Classic Industries has a pretty good lookin Chevy grey that I coated the L6 with. I am sure when I get the rest of the accessories bolted on she will look fantastic. Here is the trucks original exhaust manifold that my boss and his dad modified over 30 years ago. Who am I to change that? So we are keeping it for the sake of nostalgia. Notice they added a second outlet for dual exhaust. Pretty cool. I just welded up a hole or two and made it pretty. And here is her mate. An Offy triple single. The Exhaust all painted up with VHT Cast. And like BOOM!!! The exhaust got new outlet bolts with a helicoil or two..... Or 4 really. It's old, what are ya gonna do? And some chrome stuff. Now on to the frame. Box-O-Goodies. All Welded up and trimmed out. And there she is. Ready for the Powder Coater. That's Brett trying to figure out the tie-down strap. I pick her up on Monday or Tuesday so be ready for some BOOM BABY!!! Bright Corvette Red. Then the real fun starts. Putting her back together. Thank you again for checking out our project. |

Good progress. Like the Camaro tank idea and will be interested to see how it comes out. Really appreciate the extra work making the box steel "look right". Frame is going to look great!

I headed out of town this past weekend and found something pretty I wanted to share.
Yup, very nice. Not much happened this past week with the old 50' cept' a few odds and ends. Here you go... Got the frame back in the shop. Installed a couple trim pieces on the 235. What are we using for a water pump pulley? Apparently they are NOT available. Now on to more beauty. I am not sure if you guys are fans or not, but it is a Chevy. Working at a local car-lot has its perks. She sure is something to look at. Maybe this build will take a detour and I will install an LT4 with a 7 speed manual. HAHAHA, |
