Re: Who hates rust? I DO!!!!

when i was doing my 61 and 65, the braces were full of dirt, luckily the metal was still pretty solid.
when I did the left fender I cut the rusty sheet metal off, exposing the inner brace, it was packed so tight with mud that I had to scrape it out.

On the braces, I drilled some 3/4 inch holes towards the bottom so that the dirt and water would have an easier time draining out.
I also plan to periodically presure wash them so that they don't get clogged up.

Here are some pics of the driver's side floorboard. The passenger side doesn't look too much better. I don't won't to pick at it too much otherwise I'm going to be Fred Flintstoning the truck when I start moving.

Re: Who hates rust? I DO!!!!

I have one question that doesn't concern the floor. What is the bushing in the firewall that the accelerator pedal rod runs through that holds it in place and is there anywhere you can get one other than a junkyard because the bushing or whatever it is in mine is messed up so the accelerator rod is loose and slides in and out through the firewall. Thanks for the help in advance. Here's a pic of what I'm talking about.

Re: Who hates rust? I DO!!!!

It looks worn out, if you remove the firewall pad , you will see the rest of it still bolted to the firewall with 2 bolts. your best bet is just a new/ different pedal assembly. just look for one without any play, and it should last you another 300,000 miles

So anyone have a good pedal assembly for a '63 or that will work with a '63? Oh where's Tony at, he has all the parts for these trucks.
