GSFMech, check you PM's.
Could we see a pic of your throttle linkage?

Re: The GSFMech Build
chevy72blu.
The first photo is an original small block cable bracket. The second photo shows it side by side with my modified bracket, one from the top and one from the bottom. I bent the part over where the throttle spring fits and cut it to fit against the carb to keep it from moving. The last photo shows it mounted to the carb. It was a quicky, you can probably find something better from Summit or jegs. Hope this helps you. Mike

Re: The GSFMech Build
Ah hah... I never thought about going OUT with the cable, I was trying to figure out how to take it BACK. Thanks man, I appreciate it!
Would you mind taking a measurement from the center of the hole that mounts to the carb base to the center of the hole where the cable is held by the clip piece? I am just going to fab one up from scratch out of some flat bar.

Re: The GSFMech Build
Time for another update.
I have all the sheet metal blocked and ready for paint. All that's left is the cab and the cowl panel. When I get back home I'm removing the cab and get it done top and bottom. Then it's on to the chassis while the cabs off. It sure feels good to make a little progress. The problem is I'm running out of shop space LOL.

Re: The GSFMech Build
Mike you are doing an outstanding job on your truck. From what you are showing us it looks to be a very solid well thought out build that you will enjoy every time you get in and on it! Just remember before you start putting the cab and doors back together after paint you will want to sound deaden the hack out of that thing. I did this with LowBuck but not to the extent I wish I had because it never came all the way apart but it still made a huge difference and it is a real joy to drive.

Re: The GSFMech Build
Time for another update. I pulled the cab off to work on the floor pan and to paint the frame. I used a 4x4 beam bolted to my engine crane.

Re: The GSFMech Build
I had a bucket seat brace I got from Wynne (HuggerCST) and installed it. Here's some shots of the brace and the seats. This is an easy job to do with the cab off the frame.

Krue,
I'm crossing my fingers it will be done by cruising (just in case) but really doubt I make it.

Re: The GSFMech Build
Here is just a little of my NOS parts stash that I will be using on this build, I have some buried in my attic (grill etc.) and some of them the packaging is gone so I have them wrapped in newspaper.

Re: The GSFMech Build
My Buddy Kevin (65Streetcruiser) came over and we watersanded the firewall, the front of the doors, the inside of the front fenders and shot them. Finally after 2 1/2 years I get to see some blue paint. We shot the door hinges and the a-pillars where they bolt on as well.

Re: The GSFMech Build
Then I mounted the cab and core support back on the frame using all new rubber mounts. Then I reinstalled the doors, and fenders and aligned everything.

Kevin and I shot the bottom of the bed and cut in all the edges where it bolts together. Then I undercoated the insides before I bolted them in.

Re: The GSFMech Build
wow, nice work...
are you a body guy or just good at your hobby? I was also wondering about that bucket seat bracket, My 68 K-10 had one on it whe I pulled the floor out. But the truck had a bench and 68's didn't have real buckets so i'm puzzled as to why it was there. Oh well, nice work by the way...
