I do know for the smaller towns in Texas, they do hassle you for more documents and do things more-so by the book. In downtown Dallas, the line is so damn long, I think those ladies could care less. 90% of the people at the windows are women who know nothing about classic cars. Just make it seem as if it is some old jalopy that is broken down into parts and you're going to fix it up. They will not question you. It has worked for me three times.

And on that presumed value non-sense, today as i was standing in line, there was two clerks. one was closed but finishing up with her customer before she went to lunch. the guy applying for a title didnt have a bill of sale just the title signed over to him. she asked him to just put whatever it was he paid on the application, he did, she finished up the paper work. the guy was on his way and she went to lunch. no mention of appraisal, blue book value, or presumed value was ever made. like mentioned before, it matters who you get and how hungry they are i guess.

Exactly what I said about it being a gift and them asking me what I thought it was worth. I took a chance and said $150 for and old 41 year old truck and the fell for it. To most ladies, 41 years is an old piece of junk. To us it is a relic. LOL!!! I told them, just like you, that it didn't have plates either and she said okay. Didn't ask for a bill of sale, because I said it was a gift from a relative who just wanted the truck out of the yard. So, I told them I towed it home. I don't know about you guys from other states, but you Texas guys should try this tactic sometimes. LOL!!!
