Re: Stainless bolts for Front sheet metal

Just realized that the sheet metal uses those nuts that clip onto the sheet metal... is it possible to get to the nuts from inside the panel in order to use SS nuts/washer as well or is that impossible? I don't like those clip-ons because they seem to love scratching my paint...

Pic of the inside of my fender attached... looks like I can get to most if not all of these, maybe with some help.

Cracker,
You are looking for square weld nuts if you have enough metal to weld to. They go all the way up to 3/4-13

Well I saw them in the front sheetmetal kits but I don't know where they go on C-10s. I do recall using them on the fender wheelhousing lip on my chevelle so I am guessing that's where they go.

Cool, didn't know those existed! I'd like to use nylon locking nuts where possible but those weld nuts should at least solve the scratched paint issue. I guess I need to feel around to see which nuts I won't be able to get to with a wrench to figure out whether I'll need these or not.

Re: Stainless bolts for Front sheet metal

What nuts (with a wrench) are you speaking about?

For example, the nuts/bolts that fasten the inner wheel well to the fender.

I suggest just as a practice - go out and remove a few of those fasteners. You will find there are no J-Nuts involved. As an example the "nut" portion is on the wheel side of the wheel well (welded on), the fender lays on top and the "large flange" flange nut holds them both together. Just about every fastener in the compartment is the same type when it comes to sheet metal. You only need a wrench on one side to install/remove. You wont hurt anything if you practice with a couple of them and it will give you confidence.
