Re: Project '70 Half Fleet
Yeah when I came to the conclusion that a 3-3/8" Autometer gauge was probably not in my future I started thinking about what to do with hole. A pic of the fam was definately on the list but I also thought about turning it into a small storage compartment for stogies, radio remote, etc. OR installing a nautical style compass. Jury is still out on that.

Re: Project '70 Half Fleet
After I installed the rear disc setup (thanks to Glock35ipsc) I took the motor/trans back out to run the brake and fuel lines. Now that the lines and tank are mounted i can reinstall the motor/trans and begin to route the exhaust. That should happen this weekend, after that I can begin work on the cab and hopefully get my harness and PCM back in the next month so I can fire this baby up!
No making fun of my makeshift engine cradle!

Re: Project '70 Half Fleet
Looks like your almost ready for an alternator, . When you going to come see me? 68 POS from FT Walton is coming up this afternoon at 4 to pick up some parts. I'm heading to Montgomery next Sat morning to grab the other part of the frame I need for DONKEY. Todd's going and maybe another buddy.....sounds like a good road trip.

Re: Project '70 Half Fleet
Yeah im about ready for that alternator. I dropped the engine back in and bolted up the poly mount for the trans so now im on to the exhaust...which is a PITA. The headers are SUPER close to the engine towers and I just found out that there are at least 2 header bolts snapped off in the block...yay!

Re: Project '70 Half Fleet
The rear calipers came off the same '96 Caprice that I got the engine/trans from. I bought some brackets from a board member that mounted the calipers on the 12 bolt axle flanges. He included a parts list (that I promptly lost) that indicated which pads, rotors, etc to get to finish the install.
What did you use to plug up the intake elbow hole and how did you solve your A/C compressor clearance issue?

Re: Project '70 Half Fleet
The plug is a horn button off one of those old steering wheels and the ac i cut the frame. I think it was about a 1" or so in by the length of the ac compressor.
What headers are you going to run? I'm wondering if Impala or camaro shortys will work good? I'm going to get the 1le elbow to eliminate the plug but i havent decided what type of air intake i'm going to run.. Later Mike |
