That's looking nice! I've got similar plans for my baby, so it's nice to see yours looking so good.

heres the seat frame on the way to the upholstery shop. going to do a version of the factory red seat. replace the black fabric with a black textured vinyl.

Re: razorback red... buildup

heres another shot of a pile of red parts. they're everywhere around here. all the painted stuff gets wet sanded with 600 and another trip to paint. always some dust and a few bugs doing their death dance in new paint. sand it out, smooth away orange peel and re-coat. i usually do a 3 coat walk around and let it cure.

also a close up of the wheel... i like to paint after mounting and balancing so the lead weights get color too. before mounting tires i sandblast the wheels, then fill rust pits, sand and prime.

Re: razorback red... buildup

next challenge... shroud.
not sure how to get the mottled look of original fiberglass. this shroud is in great shape for an original. no cracks or deep scuffs but a lot of oil stains and fan belt etching. tried sanding and buffing, not much help. don't want to but i might have to paint...

Re: razorback red... buildup

its just about the end of may and the memorial day weekend is upon us. always a good time to give a shout out to all those who served or are serving our country. thanks! thanks a lot!

the weather has been very agreeable this may and some good progress was made on red. after putting color on the firewall i realized that the brown dash wouldn't work. too many color elements trying to work together and the brown dash, while it looked good with the gold or fawn interior, it didn't work with the red. and then throw in the black roof and stripe... the brown had to go.

so i repainted the dash and all the dash pieces a metallic or sable black. to accent the fawn metallic interior color i dumped a bunch of gold flake in the sable black.

Re: razorback red... buildup

today i rolled red out of the garage to color sand the cab. it was a good opportunity to take some pics of assembly. maybe the best part of the project is when you get to attach painted and detailed parts together. probably goes back to childhood days spent building models, but there's something satisfying about the assembly phase.

yeah, i've got a few seats for parts. just let me know what you need, maybe e-mail a pic of your damaged area. the part that is always bad is the outside kick-up and supports. i made them from other seat bottom springs. cut and did the basic shape with 4 different pieces. welded the pieces together with clothes hanger rod. the hanger rod is to help keep the spring steel tension. don't know why, just heard thats what to use. plus hit the pieces with cold wet rag while hot.

Love your build up so far. I have a lot of friends that are going to school in fayetteville. I may just have to come visit them and do some tailgating next football season just to check out your truck. Hope it's ready!

come on down!!! i tell you what. nobody tailgate parties like hog fans. food, drink and big screens. most people don't even have tickets to the game, just there for the party. hey notnurodz... love your model A. you must be a hamber.

also i appreciate the comments from you guys on this truck... its part of what makes me want to go back out in the garage after i'm tired and through for the day.

Re: razorback red... buildup

What an incredible and impressive level of detail everywhere in your build. I particularly like the new dash finish. I know it seems like a simple thing, but I'm really inspired by the wheels as well. I've always had a passion for stock steel wheels, and bright gloss paint with new lugs is just as impressive as expensive custom rims in my book.

I noticed in one of your posts the you called bodywork bodyfun. It is tedious and sometimes boring ,sometimes mind numbing but you sir are doing a very fine job on the build

I wish I had stopped by your place when we still lived in Pea Ridge. I have driven by on a couple of occassions in the past and would have stopped if somebody was there for sure! I like your creations, especially the yellow 'burb. Can't wait to see how this one looks all together, even though I have an idea it will be REAL NICE CLARK (in my Cousin Eddy voice).
