Re: Old Blue eyeS updates with pics!

You're definitely going about this the right way IMO......blast it all down to bare steel so you can see exactly what you have. Sounds like it will be a sweet ride when it's done. Your son must be excited about getting such a cool truck to drive.

Thanks! My son helped do a lot of the stuff...so he kows the truck..

The paint and body is above me or would take more time than I have to spend... SO a big shout out and thanks to Counts Kustoms (www.countskustoms.com) for assisting me at this stage... Those guys rock!!

Re: Old Blue eyeS updates with pics!

New update...

It's been a while, but cooking on it now!

Here are some pics... the body, doors, panels.. etc have all been blocked and sanded and are ready for paint. The bed is being worked on and done in next few days.

This isn't gong to be a show truck, just a daily driver, so some things were not done. BUT it will be bette than it probably was when new...lol

THe frame just got painted couple days ago and the engine/drivetrain/brakelines etc are going on today. Hopefully, cab will be painted next week.

Added hidden hitch and roll pan with bumper. modifying bumper brackets so that only one bracket comes through roll pan.

Frame is Blue Metallic the body won't be..lol

I'm not sure if I'm jealous because of the frame or all of those cars its parked next too.

Still none the less that frame looks outstanding.

Re: Old Blue eyeS updates with pics!

Ha! thanks again... BUT this is far from being a show truck. I am not patient enough to get this there... BUT it will be better than it ever was when it was new IMO when done. Definite 20 footer..lol

Re: Old Blue eyeS updates with pics!

Hello, let me start by saying how much I like the way your project is heading, I have had a 62 C10 for over 20 years and just started on the metal repair, so what did you end up doing for the roof repair? I have rot on the corners and I am afraid of how severe the rust is inside...yeah its a Ca truck...rust happens here too, my grandfather ordered this from GM in 62...I have an entire roof from a 64 with no rust was thinking of removing the skin, just curious what your solution was, Thanks in advance for any info you can give me

After sand blasting, I saw how much bondo was on it...lol I cut out the cancer and didn't look too hard inside the top..lol.. pieced in metal rather than skin it. Actually was going to replace the top completely, but decided against it. It was a lot easier than anything else. I then got rid of the drip rim completely (cut and grinded it off).

I thought I posted some pics, let me see what I got.

That is one nice truck. I am building one for my son as well and he has, welded, sanded, painted, and spent a chunk of his own money to get his where it is. Makes you kind of proud doesn't it.
