Nice ride! I know it's a long shot, but would you happen to know what gear you have in the rearend? Thats the same drive train that was in my stepside. My motor & trans have been changed but the rearend is stock. Trying to figure out what I have.

Re: My 81 Step Side

i have no idea i haven't felt the need to check it. small update for the day i got the cab all the way off today so now i have a bare frame. will be power washing the cab and frame and getting ti ready to paint.

going to go ahead and remove one or two rear leafs and cut 1 coil off the front while i have it down like this.

i did find that my wiring harness has been butchered so i will be taking to harness out of my donor truck to correct this.

Re: My 81 Step Side

how hard is it to get the cab off? I already have the bed and front end off my 83 and am now contemplating removing the cab as well. Very nice project you have here.

Re: My 81 Step Side

4 cab bolts d/c the steering arm and the brake master cylinder then 4 healthy boys to get it off easiest

i did have one of the cab bolts break loose and have to cut a hole in my body to tack the nut back in place.
