Re: Gas tank relo: Options other than Blazer?

The Jeep tank should be hear in a few days. I got it on Ebay from theradiatorconnection. I kinda stepped out on faith that it will work from the measurements they gave. From the picture of the tank it shows the fill to be flush with the top of the tank instead of on the top of the tank so I should be able to tuck it up close to the bed floor. Of course I will have to move a brace as you would with any tank.

Re: Gas tank relo: Options other than Blazer?

I talked to Yogi's today to ask about this fuel tank. They said that this one is internally baffled: (The one I previously mentioned in this thread.)

http://www.yogisinc.com/Detail.cfm/-...71/product.htm

And that either of these two fuel pumps would work.
TANGP-2 http://www.yogisinc.com/Detail.cfm/-...28/product.htm
TANGP-4 http://www.yogisinc.com/Detail.cfm/-...28/product.htm

They're the same tanks sold by Tanks Inc., but the price is roughly the same. I'm going to give Tanks Inc. a call tomorrow to confirm that they really are baffled. If so, this could be the perfect tank for EFI applications for $425.

Other than weight distribution, I haven't come up with a good enough reason to justify all the hassles of relocating

Re: Gas tank relo: Options other than Blazer?

I just got my Blazer tank conversion for my 67 C-20 from Brothers, and while I have no problem with the quality of the tank, after holding it up in place I think it hangs down more than I would like. I'm wishing now that I had just gone to my local wrecking yard with a tape measure. I'll use the one from Brothers, but I would be rethinking it if I hadn't already written the check.

Re: Gas tank relo: Options other than Blazer?

Jim PA,
I know what you mean, but I got tired of gas being sucked out of the filler and running down the side of the truck. I 've changed the cap twice but the vacume is just to strong. I've been under it changing springs and gears, so I figured I might as whell change the tank while I was there.....

I see some splatters of gas on my truck too, but I just figured I had a crappy cap. And with what paint I have left on the truck, I'm not concerned yet

Re: Gas tank relo: Options other than Blazer?

I'm really interested in the tank from the 78-86 CJ. Have you tested to make sure the sending unit works? I was going to use an '81 Jeep J20 tank and modify a '73 chevy sending unit, but if this works it would be much easier and cheaper. Thanks.

Under the bed somewhere I never got to mounting it up, others on this site have used LS1 Camaro tanks (at least one other guy) that's where I got the idea...

Re: Gas tank relo: Options other than Blazer?

Ok, thanks. I decided to go ahead and do it, so I've got an '81 J20 tank (and sending unit). I reversed the arm on the sending unit so that my tank gauge should read correctly (or close). I'm waiting on some other parts to finish it and then I'll post the whole thing with pictures.
