Re: Circus wagon pics ?

I loved that truck.... It was some of my inspiration for getting my first 67-72. Well the wagon and also the black swb in Dazed and Confused.

Re: Circus wagon pics ?

Hi guys! So cool to see my old truck is still talked about and even referenced in many threads when someone has a multi-colored truck it says "I'm leaving it Circus Wagon style". That's crazy!
I can't tell you how much I loved that old truck and how all involved kick themselves for letting it go. I really had no choice economically the last 10 years were brutal for me so no chance I could have kept it, but glad to see it still alive in people's memories.

I wrote a long introduction and update to what I have done since that truck here

Thanks everyone for remembering the Circus Wagon! Jim

The Yellow '68 belonged to Matt King and was another reason I almost didn't get to do mine. It was a cheap beater they had painted at Earl Schieb. Was still a rough truck when it was on the cover with ME driving it!!!

WELCOME CircusWagonJim!

I think your truck is what got me started loving the 67-72 body style.
And I'm an old guy (49). Ha.

Glad to see that you are a member here.
Any new truck projects in your future?

Re: Circus wagon pics ?

Hey Jim,... what exactly happened to Sport Truck magazine?
I had just re-subscribed to it,... when it went away.
I thought it was on it's way to becoming a top truck magazine,... again.
Did the economy put an end to it?

Re: Circus wagon pics ?

I don't know what really happened to Sport Truck- but I'd have to say yes, the economy killed all "non-essentials". I'm sure the truck world was hit just as hard as I was in the Hot Rod world.

Very interesting read! I don't think I have the magazines anymore, but I definately remember reading about the "Circus Wagon". Sorry to hear that the last decade has been so brutal for you.

After some close calls heath wise and all the other B.S. so many others have had to go through too with this economy I'm glad just to still be here and get a chance to start over from absolutely nothing. For my kids I wish that wasn't the case, but life isn't ours to decide what the path brings.

Hey Alvin- PLEASE post some more of those stories if you have scanned them. Thanks Jim

I think we all love reading stories like yours, keep them coming and thanks for sharing them. I have had my 1970 cst swb fleetside sense 1984, sold it in 1987 and got it back in 1989. Right now it is in 1000 pieces

Re: Circus wagon pics ?

The rake in the second picture in that post of yours from behind the truck makes me a little weak in the pants! Im trying to get the front of my truck down a little more so I can accomplish that look. That, and putting a little taller tire in the rear should get-r-dun! lol

Wow Jim, thanks for going through the trouble to scan the pics and post the story. It's really cool to get an inside look after all these years!

Re: Circus wagon pics ?

Funny story- I just moved back to California after a year in Texas. I have been working on my 1980 2-whhel drive Blazer there and posted the progress on this board.
I needed a job and Truckin' Magazine has an opening. Apparently I'm not qualified for it after building one of the most memorable magazine project trucks and writing articles that people still talk about 10 years later!
I got a job a couple weeks ago as the manager of Hollywood Hot Rods. Would love to contribute to the magazines but apparently they are happy doing BED WOOD and CAB STEP REPLACEMENT stories EVERY MONTH!!! Good news is there are also a few more "How to Make you Long Bed a Short Bed" stories coming up as well!!! And they wonder why the mags are only 88 pages of NOTHING!

I bet working for Troy at Hollywood Hotrods will be much nicer job anyway.

Re: Circus wagon pics ?

There are people at Street Trucks that still have hard feelings too after a decade. I try not to have any beefs- so doesn't look like any "Circus Wagon II" anytime soon- and I have offered it.

Jim, if you're not busy working on the second weekend of July a whole lot of us forum members will be at the "Brothers Show" on the 8th, it would be really nice if you could join us, and lunch of course would be on the C/10 Club lunch and beers that is. You have 67 days and a wake up to plan it.
