Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Some time ago I was running a 14.50x30 ET street.
For the last few years I have been running a 315/60/15 MT ET Street Radial

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Sorry guys/gals.. Joe had the flu this weekend and was hung up in the house all weekend. Feel bad for the guy, no one likes being sick to their stomach. That means no pics for you.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
I'm wondering if you plan to street drive this or not? Is your builder not going to add a second rail for the main frame rail section? A double rail adds more rigidity to it and less flex especially since your back halfing it and not a full tube chassis.

Dan, Not sure I am following you. Could you provide a picture of an example?

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
I went thru a lot of sites trying to find what I'm talking about and these are as close as I came:http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=955735. What they are is just what it sounds like. You have those main frame rails just doubled with tube spacers ever 6-12 inches apart. From what I have found its called a 25-1 chassis and it greatly reduces flex in the frame. Most of the frame kits I found added another 2K dollars over the price of their normal full tube chassis and the guys running them were 10.5 tire guys and up with serious horsepower. But if your driving it only at the track without that much planned hp I suppose you don't it.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
I believe what he is referring to is a double frame-rail, similar to a pro-mod.
If my memory serves me correctly, even those are only doubled to the rear suspension crossmember. As the rear portion is not supporting any substantial weight behind the rear suspension pickup point. The factory frame with the appropriate roll cage should be sufficient. Paul Baxter Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
I think thats what hes seeing too, but once the cage is finished it will look and be strong as it needs to be! I doubt your chassis guy would lead you wrong as well.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
I should be in front of it this weekend and will take pics. As of yesterday when I talked to Joe:
Out riggers are done Main hoop is tacked in place Rear bars are bent and fitted through the cab A-pillar bars are bent and lower section fit, need to be notched to fit main hoop My guess is more of it will be done before the weekend comes.
