Sorry for the long time without a update, some will be mad with what happened but to explain, I went back to the junkyard I was getting my LS3 through and it was gone, my fault i procrastinated too much, looked into getting a new one and it was around $5,800 which I wasn't aiming to drop. So I am putting a different motor in, a 91 cummins non-intercooled. And the reason why is because I paid $300 for the truck complete. Sorry it isn't turning out like I wanted but it still isn't that bad of a swap...

I don't know how to seperate the casing to paint the alternator but Im considering giving it a try tonight. I have heard it is difficult but it doesn't look like it, any advice on that I would greatly appreciate. My brother is helping me with welding the crossmember for the motor, and I have a NV4500 tranny with a NP205 transfer case I am going to go pick up today.... I will put up a few videos if anyone is interested.

cumminclouds, It looks like you have the engine stand bolted to the aluminum transmission adaptor???

If so....That is HIGHLY dangerous, Aluminum will not hold a 5' long 1000 pound engine for long.

If it already hasn't been done, make sure you fix that KDP before installing the engine.

What are your plans for building more power out of that Cummins?

KDP was in place and tight, I went ahead and fixed it up but what surprised me is it lasted 214,000. Casing was perfect also!!!

This one is a 1st gen cummins non-intercooled but I am going to intercool it off the bat then I have plans of doing twins with a hx35/hx60. I don't know what injectors size/spray pattern I want yet. I am just worried about it fitting because I want to use my a/c. And of course we have a evaporator on the wall thats half the size of the motor.

What is your opinion on what you would do with the cummins?

Your exactly right about the aluminum part but on the back of the cummins you can screw directly into the block. there is spaces to not bolt up to the aluminum adaptor. I was worried to when I was putting it on there. But is working great so far...

Unlike the intercooled Cummins, the non-intercooled already has the large injectors that are good for making power.

Why not use the Dodge A/C pump and tie it into the lines?

Are you going to o-ring your engine to support that kind of boost?

What kind of power are you looking for and how much do you want to spend? The VE pump is pretty much maxed out at 350-400 hp. If you want to go more than that, install a P-Pump.

I would install a good turbo such as a HX35, HX40 or he351ve rather than go into all the expense and complication of installing dual turbo's. That'll give you enough power to break any automatic transmission behind it and get good fuel economy.

Your right about the injectors, And Im using all the dodge accessories since they worked fine in the dodge. Didn't fire-ring or anything to internals major, all I did was break it apart and cleaned put new gaskets. Didn't want to put too much in $ on a great running motor. I have a HX35 on my other dodge that I pulled it home with, it runs great but is there I would love to run the HE351ve but I honestly wouldn't know how to hook it up what all do you know about running a HE351ve I wouldn't know how to get the vanes to open and close when needed. Running a NV4500 I completed the motor last night, just heading to pick up the belt/fuel filter this morning then ready to start setting it in.

Looks very nice.

Getting the variables vanes to function on a HE351ve is definitely the challenge. I know it has been done but haven't really looked into it closely.

The NV4500 is a good choice. Just make sure you put the right kind of oil in it and deal with that 5th gear nut.

What axle gear ratios are you going to use with the Cummins?

I might go with the HX35 because of how well it works on my other truck, but if I found a way for a VGT to work I would do it in a heart beat..
Already bought the oil through dodge, which is expensive as hell but you have me looking into the 5th gear nut now, While I have it sitting in the garge Ill go ahead and fix that.
My truck has 3.08's right now so I figured id give it a try.
Man I love your suburban! Did you have any problems with heat, and is your 205 a divorced transfer? Would you have done anything different on your swap that you might give me some advice on before Im complete?

Your 3.08's will probably work out fine as long as your HX35 has the 12 cm housing (which is good for low rpm power). My engine only turns around at 1300 rpms at 65 with the double overdrive and oversize tires. It has plenty of power to push it way past 80 mph.

Nope, my NP205 bolted directly to the NV5600 transmission and then, the GV is bolted behind the NV5600.

Yes, getting rid of heat is something to pay attention to. I hope you've got a 4 core radiator. I've only saw the temperature needle head north one time on mine when I was pulling an extremely heavy load up a steep grade. I just had to shift up another gear and go a little slower. Basically, the more power the engine produces, the more that heat becomes an issue. People can brag that their truck produces 500 hp but it certainly can't sustain that for a very long time. The frontal area of our trucks are simply not large enough to get rid of that much heat.

If I were to do anything differently, I would have modified the oil pan in the corner so that there would be no chance of it hitting the front pumpkin. Then instead of installing 2" lift springs, I would have installed 1/2 ton leaf springs and supplemented it with some air bags to get my desired height. The way it is right now, it rides pretty rough. Other than that, I'm extremely satisfied with the rig and plan to drive it forever.

I have been considering looking into a 4-link. Just so that Im not bouncing like a dumptruck down the road! But I haven't found anything that great yet, might pay my brother to make one for me. So this weekend I got the truck loaded up with the motor and took it over to my brothers shop, I got in trouble also because there doing road construction by my house and a guy running a front-end-loader said I could use it to load up my stuff, Just so happens that his superior came out that afternoon while I was loading, he was pissed till he seen it was a chevy & a cummins. Guess enthusiasts are everywhere.

Are you talking about an actual LS3 cause I'm under the impression that they don't have VVT only the 6.2l out of escaldes denali and trucks have that feature. I'm very interested in your swap I think the 6l80e has the same six bolt 32 spline tail flange as a 4l80 therefore you should be able to use a th400 adapter in a 32 spline big bearing 205 do you have the 205 yet cause if not wouldn't a 208 be a better choice lower low range and lighter. Just some ideas to kick around
