Re : THANX !
I really do love life out on the Open Road........
I'll never own a shiny show rig as I like to work my Chevies , that's what they were made for..... If I can get this dang sciatica thing fixed , I'll drive my C/10 back to TEXAS where my friend has a shop , he restores or Hot Rods mostly AD's but he'll de rust my '60 C/10 and make it As-New again , my hope is that this is the very last Shop Truck I'll ever buy . Keep me posted on the meets and I'll keep coming.... I can't seem to find that California forum on my own , neither can several others here who've asked me to let them know when & where the next meet & greet is . 50BOMB really does need a lift for his new seat from Pasadena to Garden Grove... it's nice right now but won't be for long out in the backyard with my two pooches...

Re : Speaking Of Old Buicks
......Brad was ;
A few years ago I looked at a '47 Buick that had been crudely turned into a TOW TRUCK ~ they'd removed most of the fastback roof and added a winch , boom and Murphy plate (pre dates slings) plus some nice hand railings along both sides , it was from some old Gulf Gas Station and was raggedy but all intact and easy to make run again (IMO) ~ the big problem was : it had a loverly straight 8 cylinder OHV engine coupled to Buick's (in)famous DynaSquish transmission , for the youngsters here , this abomination didn't ever actually shift it just whirred it's way along , sucking up fast quantities of gasoline - 5 ~ 7 MPG's was considered really good out of these when new so I passed on it . I still wonder , I hope some rich goof with a dead Sedanette didn't buy it to scavenge all those beautiful , impossible to find parts........ *sigh* . Did you guys really want to hear about me wheezing & rattling my way across America on my '69 C/10 ? . I'll drag my alleged mind for details if I can , it was last August so naturally the heater was stuck on full blast .

Re: Folding Bench Seat for '69 C/10 ?
Here is a couple pictures of my new foam back folding seat. Turned out great! Doesnt fold as far forward as the old seat but still works the way I want it to.
The guy who did the seat cut off the radius piece from the old spring back seat and welded it on the back of the foam seat frame. I cut off the "ears" from the old spring bottom seat that the seat back rests on and they welded it onto the new foam bottom seat frame.

Re : Pix Of Folding Bench Seat for '69 C/10 ?
O.K. , I'll give it a whirl .
Truly , not a lot to tell about the cross country trip , get up , wash windshield , check oil , coolant & tires load truck , hit the road , stop for coffee & breakfast then drive some more , stop for gas every 200 miles or so , add one or two quarts of oil as necessary , wash dead bugs from glass and press on . This trip I didn't stop for many junkyards like I usually do as my big Brother was riding shotgun and he had to be back in The Land Of Fruits , Nuts & Flakes for a trial . The few I did stop at were in TEXAS (did I mention how much I love to visit The Great State Of TEXAS ?) and they'd ALL been cleaned out in the last two or three months by a traveling crusher who'd come in and offer a set price per pound for everything ~ they did it all , including cleanup and Haz-Mat disposal..... what toothless bubba 150 miles from nowhere with 5 acres of rusty scrap all 1974 or older , wouldn't jump at that ? and so they did . I passed many a rusty old fence with pretty much nothing behind it , every junkman told me the same sad story . We stopped in at The White Sands National Monument and Missile Park , it was really nice and loads of history there but we only had three hours before hitting the road again , the sun fell as we drove west up and over The Sacramento Mountains , I nearly hit a BIG Elk rounding a narrow corner in the pitch dark , luckily I was only going 45 or so so I was able to slow enough to let it bound out of our way . It was the size of a Volkswagen ! . As is my wont , I was driving only the tiniest two lane back roads I could find , eating in diners and occasionally in the big truck stops that dot America . OOPS ! dinner calls , I gotta go .

Re : Folding Bench Seat for '69 C/10
O-Kay then ;
It's been a while , I had promised to post pictures and here they are ~ Note the nifty storage pockets I had the Trimmer add ~ they're deep and wide so I can stuff all manner of maps , windshield shades ,umbrellas and whatever else I need to (but not the work gloves ~ they go in the corer of the cab right above the gas tank so nothing gets dirty) . I hope these pix come through O.K. . It appears another Old Trucker will come pick up the removed bench seat next week , I looked at it last night , it's still in VGC , no rips nor tears , will need a serious vacuuming before use . I *think* I've figured out how to download pix so expect to see some underhood 250 CID L6 pix soon ! . .

Re : Health
My back remains the same : broken , L1 Vertibrae shattered like a shot glass dropped on cement , I'll wear a back brace & use a cane the rest of my days .
The new pain thing is this flushurginner sciatic nerve ~ it's a seriously bad thing and kicks my butt all over the place but I refuse to give up . (he says as his right foot feels like it's being electrocuted) The weekend and DEATH VALLEY awaits ! . I've loaded on firewood and 1.5 GALLONS of spare oil so I should be fine . I'm always amazed how little this rig smokes considering it burns a quart every 150 miles .

Re: Folding Bench Seat for '69 C/10 ?
I know this is an old thread but was just curious. How do the seats fold forward? I know, probably a dumb question...

Re: Folding Bench Seat for '69 C/10 ?
NOT a 'stupid ' question ! .
Some folks will tell you to remove two bolts from the back rest but that doesn't actually work very well . You're going to have to hunt up a seat from a slightly new truck , they're everywhere and dirt cheap as Hot Rodders and Show Rig folks prefer buckets . Resist the urge to add soft foam when re building the seat , plushy seats are not comfy after an hour or so . I added some nice pockets across the back of the '71 folding bench seat I put into my '69 C/10 , the photos are in here some where if you look up my older posts .

Re: Folding Bench Seat for '69 C/10 ?
The guys will tell you but I *think* only '71 & '72 had them , they're easy to find and bolt right up using the same holes and so on .
WELL WORTH the effort ! .

Re: Folding Bench Seat for '69 C/10 ?
the '67's came with a folding seat back ,no other year folds forward and yes you can bolt one in all 67-72 seats are interchangeable .

Re: Folding Bench Seat for '69 C/10 ?
What lever ? Remember your dealing with 1967 technology ! Remove the wing nut from the seat frame and they will tilt forward . you can also adjust the lean of the seat back by adjusting the set bolt .

Re: Folding Bench Seat for '69 C/10 ?
Most cars and trucks in the early 60's had flip forward seats with no latch ,then they realized people/kids were getting launched forward in a crash (NOBODY WORE SEAT BELTS BACK THEN ) so when they built the '67 model truck they added the wingnut and bolt, 68 they started bolting them solid to avoid the problem it was less convenient but you didn't get launched forward in a crash !

Re: Folding Bench Seat for '69 C/10 ?
Lol. Thanks for the info! Its neat finding stuff out like this. Especially like yesterday, I thought my exterior door handle was broken because it wouldn't stay locked when I shut my door. So I pulled the latch mechanism out and it looked fine, so I then came on this site and learned it was a convenience feature, that you had to use your key to lock it.
