Re: Lets see some of them good looking engines out there.

Heres the small block i built for a buddy of mine. Sadly, its not going in a chevy, rather an 80 toyoduhh...
I still havent convinced my friends that toyotas arent real trucks...

The orange one went in my 79. Wish i could say it was still that clean. But its a hell of a runner!

Its not to hard to detail an engine bay. I did mine with the engine still in. The most important thing is to get it clean. I recommend using simple green and a pressure washer. Let it dry and remove anything simple just to make it cleaner. Mask off your fenders and anything else and paint away. You can always spay some paint into a cap and use a small brush for details. I prefer the inside of my engine bay be all black for a nicer look . Then highlight the engine and other components with other colors. I posted pics of my 8.1 at the top of the page before I detailed it. this is after about two hours work its not show quality but its an improvment for now.Sorry the pic is dark I took this at night. I will get some better ones tomorrow.

I used a gloss black on the firewall, fenderwells, and rad support. Then a semi gloss engine enamal on the engine. The white is a satin finish that I plan to use on the rest of the truck.

Re: Lets see some of them good looking engines out there.

This is mine when i wasn´t on the streets!
Now it isn´t that clean anymore! The rear main seal leaks oil, header gaskets blow by on both sides and the aluminum intake has some oil under the carb on the driversside and some water shows up behind the heateroutlet and the valvecovers also leak!
I´m planning an overhaul before next season!

Re: Lets see some of them good looking engines out there.

I have them on for 4 years now and they still are ok.I had one clamp failure with a heater hose because i checked them and over tightend! Meanwhile i changed all clamps for higher quality. They still look good but get very hot so touching them with the engine running causes burning the fingers and the forehead- believe me!
Anyway i´d like to change the hoses to black rubber and those slick thermoplastic clamps!

Cool Re: Lets see some of them good looking engines out there.

Not a beauty queen but I think I did ok for my first time ever touching/taking apart an engine. + I'm a girl...hindsight is 20/20 I should have primed first at least once, next time I think I'll prime twice.
