Ouch! It is people like that shop that make it hard for those of us who actually want to do nice work for people, hard to get rolling. Sorry to hear about your experience. Good luck with the re-do. How much of the work done will actually stay on the truck? Did they do the front right?

Re: Pink Dually of Death

Unless you are planning to tow a gooseneck you could get by just fine by using the 2x4x3/16. Save a little cash too.

Re: Pink Dually of Death

I'm hoping my boss will let me off early Friday so I can go and get my 48' of 2x4 box tubing.... I'll be ditching the front clip and building my own for a full frame instead of a 3/4 frame I'll also be doing a few more unseen dually things pretty sure I won't have it done by turkey drag in Tyler Texas as planned but it'll be different let's put it that way

Re: Pink Dually of Death

When you redo the frame I would not have all the pie cuts to make the frame round. That is too many weld seams to crack in my opinion. I think you would be better off cutting the notch from plate steel then boxing it in. It always sucks having to redo work and its worse when it is someone elses.

Re: Pink Dually of Death

It's hard to find a rhd rack and pinion for any car in the states could I use my factory gear box yes but that's alot of fab work when I can just run a orbital valve and a psc ram... I've used there stuff on a few rigs good quality parts

Re: Pink Dually of Death

Oh, that makes sense. I know a guy here with a RHD mini truck. But to find that stuff is easy on a Japanese truck. Cool idea. Just another way to stand out a little more.

Re: Pink Dually of Death

That hella sucks about the shop not getting your truck done the way you wanted, taking so long and off center too. For your steering you might be able to use a Ford steering box from a 80s F350 truck, they mount on the inside of the frame so if you set the frame up right you should be able to mount it to the outside of the frame on the passenger side & swap the idler arm to the drivers side to keep the stock center link & tie rods. When I bag my dually I'm gonna "Z" the front, stock floor body drop & back half it at the same time. I'm gonna keep it simple, gonna make the rear of the frame as high as I'd need a notch so I can mount my bags & lower links right under it to keep the width down, also so I can fit semi wheels between stock width dually fenders. I'm also gonna raise the whole bed floor. This should also make hooking my 5th wheel back up easier too. Those frames with all bends look cool on mini trucks that don't get used as trucks anymore. I believe a work truck can be bagged & still used as a work truck if done right, built simple & still look clean. Here's a crappy picture I made to give you an idea of what I plan on doing.
