Continued filling holes and smoothing the frame rails. Man there's a lot of holes!

For about 9 yrs in a row, one of the car clubs I'm in, helps out at the "Trunk or Treat" program thru the hospital and local businesses. We always have about 3,000 kids come thru the event. It's at out local Civic Center, here's a few shots. Our group and then more of the event...Jim

So, Fisher, it replaced the stock heater, in the stock location, under the passenger dash?

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

Kinda....its in my 46. Never had a heater. I found a 46 Harrison Chevrolet heater, restored it and grafted in a newer style core and fan. Turned out better than I expected. Some of the 47-54 trucks were heater delete and these accesory heaters work well. You can even find them with defrost tubes. I modified the brass works 47-54 deluxe heater core and fan replacement for this one.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

I had a 47 Ford pu, not nearly as nice, paid $40 for it in 1969. Flat head used a quart of oil every 20 miles, luckily I worked at a gas station part time and had access to lots of used oil. Had dual stacks coming up thru the bed, looked like the Queen Mary at flank speed. Had to park on hills so it could build up enough compression to start. Broke an axle showing off on gravel and sold it to a dirt track guy that wanted the tranny and open drive line for $50.

Love the bookmatch on the center boards and your choice of helpers. What kind of wood and finish and how did you attach to the frame.

Thanks Denny

It's Ash. Wanted quartersawn white oak but when I got to the lumber yard they just didn't have the widths I needed. They did have a few 16" wide boards in the ash so went with those for now. I hate to be wasteful so I used almost a gallon of left over PPG clearcoat on them (top, sides and bottoms). It had been on the shelf from a project 5 years ago. Had to buy a can of hardener which was a little over $100 so would have been better off just buying a gallon of spar : )

We welded the bed to frame bolts to the cross members which allowed me to eliminate them being on top of the wood.
