Re: New 1976 SWB

Do you remember what the seat was out of? I've got an '80 swb that the p/o put buckets in. I'd prefer a bench. Thanks

1973-87 pickups all fit. can even do 88-98 with minor mods.

Re: New 1976 SWB

I like everything you have done to the truck so far except for maybe the brown dash with the green metal interior. That is just my opinion of course but I like the whole parts truck vibe you got going there very cool. I really like that front license plate as well, that would make a cool wall hanger. How much??????lol

thanks for kudos

Junkyard seat was tan to start so it dictated my color choice. no one including SEM makes green vinyl interior paint, so it was tan or grey.

tag is on back. in KS we can reuse vintage plates as antique tags.

got the bed braces cut yesterday so i can move rear shackles. should happen next weekend.

Re: New 1976 SWB

got some good work done this weekend. installed lowering shackles on the rear. i like the rake it has. Did not install the front perch relocaters.

the back is 1" higher than the front in the middle of the wheelwells.

pulled the hood and straightened it from the "Chevy kink"

first pic is before.

next up--paint wheel Chevy orange and new black tires.

Looks great. I'd love to see a pic of your new wheel set up with the beauty rings installed. Thinking of painting my winter rims a darker red while still using the rings. Cheers!

Thanks a bunch

sorry. skipping the rings on this. going with the poverty look. if i did not already have the ralleys, i'd use dog bowls.

look at older pics when i was testing colors for pics with rings.

Looks like you are from the same area where my Grandfather was born. He was born in Lost Springs Rooks Co. Dont hear of too many people from that area.By the way if you know anyone with the last name of Fike they are probably related.
Anyway I like what you are doing with the truck.

thanks. I am actually from Lawrence (between Topeka and KC on I-70).

I bought the truck on CL. Truck was the Plainville USD 270 School pickup. It somehow migrated East to Emporia where I bought it. I saved it from being a donor truck for a 60-66 project.

Truck looks great. Had checked in on your build in a while but man it looks killer. I really dig the look. The lettering is a nice touch. Great job!

Re: New 1976 SWB

update. got the slider installed for my "air conditioning". I had also saved some old school steel gun racks. Aligned the gun racks with the slider seams. Fixed the dome light. other than gauges, it seems to be the only option.

saw this cup holder at a car show and duplicated it. its another 75/76 tag I had. Green is a nice touch....

finally got my cubic inch emblem installed. only 292, 350, 400 and 454 had emblems on the grill. I found a 250 off a 60s Nova (?) on ebay and drilled out an old 350 I got at a swap meet. Looks pretty good, I think. A friend said "It takes a real man to fess up to a 250 under the hood"

Re: New 1976 SWB

I have the same gun racks for my truck. I can hang my hat up. I'd like to see some more of the lettering if you get a chance to post a pic up.
