Re: 1970 Chevy C10 pickup

Great progress! Hope you keep the 6 banger, 4sp and leaf set up. It's a cool original. I vote dark blue with white TG letters, black or saddle interior and steelies/dog dishes. (Not that you asked my opinion) ....Keep up the great work!!! I'm lovin' it!

...oh, and even though you've got a strong leg, let's power up those brakes!

Re: 1970 Chevy C10 pickup

wow! really the perfect combo! Its so close to origonal that it would be easier to restore than to rat rod or God knows what they do to these old trucks. Maybe some high way friendly rear end gears and a NP4500.

really nice truck,

No homework, no baseball practice, so I got Dad to teach me how to patch a fender.

Re: 1970 Chevy C10 pickup

This weekend we got the paint off of the fenders, finished welding the patch on one fender, replaced the passenger side door, and put new pins and bushings on the door.

It's the gift that keeps on giving ....and those doors really did turn out to be the best parts deal of 2014. Great progress! Great pics!

...speaking of that hood, your dad needs to start an alternate tinkerings thread and show that CobraJet Torino that he's working on now that's swallowing up the rest of the Blazer hood.

Re: 1970 Chevy C10 pickup

Where did you get the new bushings and friction pads for the hinges? Were you able to just knock the pins out or did you have to heat the hinges also?

Re: 1970 Chevy C10 pickup

Nice progress.
How hard was it to take off the fenders? Any tricky stuff to it? I wouldn't mine doing this to work on my motor and degrease the whole thing with a power washer first .Before the tow truck backs it into my garage where it will sit for a while. Until I get it running which is priority number one right now since this is our last week of T-Ball.

We got them from South Kentucky Classics for $10. We were able to just knock the pins out.

It wasn't too hard, it would probably easier to take off the front bumper

Re: 1970 Chevy C10 pickup

Also this week, we stripped the top. The truck used to be a local utility truck for a power company and we found a hole where there used to be a light and we patched it. After we patched all the holes and dents we primed the top.

We were able to take the passenger off and replace the door bottom. We have a new door skin but we still have to put that on.
