Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

I got full length headers 3" pipe to magnaflows and more 3" pipe that dumps in front of the rear tires. It's tolerable at idle and low rpms but get on it just a little and the sucka will make your teeth rattle!!

Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

Run the pipes past the cab or you`ll annoy yourself.I have MagnaFlow 6" rounds with 3" pipes on my Suburban and it cracks like no Flowmaster ever could.Straight pipes run all the way back sounds badass and there`s always the Cherry Bomb.

Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

I have got a single 3 inch pipe with a flowmaster muffler hooked up to a 292 that dumps out in front of the left rear tire. My neighbor hates it but I don't think it is too loud. The only problem with it is I can't go through drive thrus because you can communicate through that speaker because the exhaust is right there. A couple of years ago, my brother put a 350 crate motor in in 78 Caprice. He went the whole summer with open headers and that thing was loud. On my 37 Chevy truck, I plan on either running the exhaust straight up or run straight pipes out the back or have it dump in front of the rear tires. The neighbors will hate that truck.

Get an old set of headers with turn-downs turned to the sides at about 45 degrees or get a set of zoomies or weedburners from somebody that races stockcars on dirt.We put a set of weedburners on a yardtruck for a junkyard and when it was taken to get stuff the neighbors always call the cops.

Headers, true dual exhaust, glass packs, exit out in front of the rear axle. There was a thread on here earlier that had videos of member's exhaust systems that was pretty cool.

Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

I'm running stock rams with 2.5 inch tubing. Mufflers are Flowmasters 40 off an older street/strip car I was building.

The motor in the truck is still stock trim, so it is not too loud. It can set off alarms, but that is usually caused by vibration. I always get looks when I drive my ol heep, cuase it is loud as it screams down the road. It has 4:10 gears so the motor is usually spinning fast.

My neighbors don't mind the truck, but they hate one of my Harleys. I run a Supertrapp header with an open end and a hi-comp motor.... Now that sets off alarms all over the place

One note, my brother and his wife drag race cars. When he starts one of their cars, just to tune it up or check a new setup. In a matter of minutes, he gets the cops cruising around his house. Seems one of his neighbors calls and complains in a matter of seconds. Just something to think about.

Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

My 67 K10 327 has factory manifolds, 2"pipes, worn out turbos right after the cab, exhaust turns down at the axle. With my old rusted out cab it seemed louder at idle than when you were running. Set off several alarms while coasting thru parking lots. Hopefully when I get it back on the road with a more solid cab it will seem a little quieter.

Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

I have the long tube headers, with a regular turbo mufflers that right under the cab, sounds ok to me but I want a little meaner sound.Question if I run pipes straight to the back without mufflers only with headers will it be to much?

Here's a short video of mine (my first try at video so it's rather 'b'). Sanderson shortys, H pipe, Flowmaster 40's, 2.5" to 3" tips out back.

Just out of high school back in 19XX had a '67 firebird with a cammed 326/4 speed, headers and 29" hornies turned down.
Loved that sound!

My '71 350/350 is stock 'cept for a 'brock, has ram horns flowing into some round, blue glass packs prolly 18" or 24" long, turned down just before the diff. Not real loud, kinda mello.

My motor guy wants to put on headers and flows, coming out of a 427 he has earmarked for my ride! Can't wait to hear that!

I'd run a moderatley loud exhaust and electric cut-outs, open headers are fun (belive me, I know), but you don't wan't to drive very far like that, it starts to get anoying.

Re: callin out all loud exuast systems!!!

How loud/obnoxious do you want to go? If you are going for a loud, but liveable sound, then longtube headers into your muffler of choice dumped before the rear axle is going to get loud when you get on it. However, under normal driving it will be controlled enough to listen to a stereo.

If you are going for looking to rattle the glass then cherry bombs/glass packs/header dumps. I ran my truck with just the headers for a week and that was insanely loud. It really did set off car alarms...

On my '71 I have Hedman longtubes, 2.5" pipes, into an X-pipe that go into Magnaflow mufflers that exit under the bed prior to the rear axle. Result: Awesome mellow sound around town and a very muscle-truck loud sound under WOT.

On my '94 Corvette, I have Hooker LTs, 2.5" pipes, x-pipe into Borlas. Result: quieter than the '71 around town, and a more raspy WOT sound.

Long tube headers, 3" pipe ran true dual, with Cherry Bomb Extreme mufflers under the bed on one truck & out the side of the bed on the other

Sounds awesome to me
