Re: '69 c20 rescue kind ..... of.
got home last night and cleaned up my house fixing tools and got them all stowed away. then started arranging space for the clean /paint new parts phase.
i have to say it feels nice to touch all the parts that have arrived in the last few weeks and start arranging them for install day. (should be next week end) this weekend is for a few little side gigs like wire a genny and install a shelf. and list of scrubbing getting ready for the por-15 arrival. lots of pics coming for this conversion. is anyone else still using 8 lug running gear? it seems like there are not too many c20 disc brake rides around. it could be the only things that makes mine unique. now just need to get the scratch together to get those 8 lug slot mags....................

Re: '69 c20 rescue kind ..... of.
all the shop garage talk on the other thread inspired me today to get a lot of stuff done this morning.
gained 30 % more floor space today. finished shelf for paint. genny job got flaked by customer so since i had all the 'lectric tools out i wired a new circuit to run the compressor in the driveway and a new outlet for my basement work area. no more extension cord for the power source. house is 100 years old, compressor would kick the breaker half way through a tank. cleaned the rest of my spindles and dust covers they are ready for masking during the evening session. then paint, paint , paint all the new front suspension parts.. ill post a grip of pics later after the working is done..

Re: '69 c20 rescue kind ..... of.
I like the dd builds. I have a c20 as well. I am converting to c10. I don't need it for dd purposes right now, but I want to dd it once I get it to a certain point. The first pic in your thread appears to prove your truck is real clean and straight. thats an awesome thing to start with.

Re: '69 c20 rescue kind ..... of.
didnt get as far as i was hoping tonight.
lower ball joint on drivers side stymied me. killed two pickle forks. pics in the daylight of the pickle fork wedged/broken between spindle and lower arm. also killed a screw jack. will try a few other tricks in the morning. i did get the upper to pop and a closer inspection tells me the truck was 20k past the need for tie rod ends. again, more pics in the day time. and almost forgot, the borrowed spring compressor wont fit through the service hole. all in all the report: tools wet from the drizzle. knee killing me. the only tools broken were Chinese. and tomorrow is another day. i am happy to be working on my truck, even if it didnt go as well this session as i hoped.

Re: '69 c20 rescue kind ..... of.
thats how she sits this morning. pic 2 and 3 show busted pickle fork bound up between lower arm and spindle. wet ground but not raining yet. going to try a different approach today. pull drum and backing plate might make room for ball joint press to do the job. wish me luck.

Re: '69 c20 rescue kind ..... of.
the dead chinese pickle fork
the fork was welded to the shaft not forged like a good one. first it split the tines and broke one then the other tine broke and provided me with a punch i didnt have.
