Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

the maroon one is a 3/4 ton which makes it worth a lot more than a 1/2. but is is not worth 15000 even with the camper with it.sure is a nice truck, but way overly priced.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

I'm not going to give out my CL finds, not this one, anyway, because I think I'm going to buy it, but before I do, asking opinions. Its a 72 cab w/buckets, center console, tilt, tach, doors, AM radio, glovebox door, AC controls. Lots of rust in floorboards, kick panels, rockers and cab corners. Oddly enough, dash pad has held up and appears to be in very serviceable condition. Seats need recovered. Not sure about condition of doors, but the glass and vents are there. Windshiled is cracked and backglass has been broken for some time as evidenced by the amount of dirt/dust in the cab. Glovebox door w/Cheyenne Super badge is there. It's been outside and you can see the remainder of the rats' nest under the seat and behind the glovebox. Let's assume that the cab is worth scrap metal prices. Cab has been removed from truck, so you have to figure in some labor costs, as well, for that. He's asking $1250. Thoughts, please.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

I look at CL every single day for trucks and kick a lot of tires "figureatively" on many of them. I love the ads that mention something about "out-of-time", "out-of-money", "lost interest", "wife says it has to go", "didn't realize how expensive/difficult/time consuming this is/was going to be", "need the room in my garage" and don't forget, the proverbial "baby on the way". That usually means a motivated seller...always good news for those who have plenty of room, time, patience, money and a wife who doesn't care what their hubby does out in the barn/garage and, quite frankly, probably prefers that he spend most of his time there, anyway. Works for me!!!!

Very nice truck. I wonder if the 4 speed will hold it back.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

I bet that truck would pull a mountain. Had some holes drilled around the backglass and a different air cleaner. Looks like new interior. Wet sand, buff and wax and you'd be in a very nice truck for $10K, probably less.

That was my question as well. Seems unusual for a fully loaded CST. The truck was made at Fremont only 23499 after my 69 CST 20 which is intriguing to me. Almost makes me want to go look at it. The steering wheel looks like a repop.

It's also interesting that the California plate is 72 289 D, and my original California plate is 73 889 D. Do you think this is some sort of mystical sign? I even have a new CST/20 emblem to replace the ugly one shown as well as a tilt and AM/FM... Hmmm....

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

If you wanted a nicely loaded work truck for pulling say another C10 you went and bought, you'd have the basic creature comforts like A/C for instance and no worries with this truck not being up to the task.

I see J70 Power Brakes on the Spid. I thought power brakes would be standard item for a C20.

Nope. That and gauges were 2 options not ordered on my 69. Dealer installed power brakes were a condition of sale when I bought the truck and were listed on the purchase agreement as "Dealer Install Power Brakes" along with other options from the factory.

It's also interesting that optional mirrors were not ordered on the Craigslist truck.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

snipes,

I'd give my left leg for that nice original floormat that's in that truck. Judging from pics, looks like its in great shape. Sadly, will probably get pulled and tossed.

and this basket case in Illinois:

https://carbondale.craigslist.org/cto/5378884337.html

...another in a very very long line of what was probably a fairly decent truck that is now nothing more than a pile of parts. Sad.
