Re: Will a spray-on bedliner de-value my truck?
I had mine sprayed with Vortex. Do I consider it to be devalued? Nope. Would I discount it? Nope.
Rubber mats retain moisture beneath them, if it rains, or if you wash it...you get the drift. That moisture can become rust, if conditions are met. Drop-in liners are not an option. Spray-in materials can also be used for sound deadening, inside the cab. Same material....does that decrease the value? If you look inside a cab and see that material, are you thinking that it is there to hide something? Or, are you thinking, "Yeah, that's a smart thing to do!" We're a fickle bunch, when it comes to our trucks....

Re: Will a spray-on bedliner de-value my truck?
I'll through in my 2 cents. I have seen some awfully nice high dollar trucks that have them and it would not stop me from buying one or try to lower the price because of it. They were 30,000 to 40,000 dollar trucks. None were stock so I think they looked great. If a 100% correct restoration or a super clean original is what someone wants it makes sense to not do it. I agree its up to the owner. there are a lot more things done to trucks that de-value it then a bed liner.

Re: Will a spray-on bedliner de-value my truck?
I don't really have an opinion either way.
What would you think if only the bed floor had the spray-on bedliner. In other words, the tailgate, bedsides, wheel wells, and front bed panel were painted as normal? Keith |

Is there a way to remove the bedliner later on?

Re: Will a spray-on bedliner de-value my truck?
I'm not sure the bedliner can be removed chemically, I don't know of any paint stripper that will dissolve it.
A torch and a putty knife will get it off, but the smell is not good and it's not much fun. On another forum a couple of people suggested liquid Nitrogen to freeze it and then chip it out. |

Re: Will a spray-on bedliner de-value my truck?
value change, i don't think so on a DD, i wouldn't on a correct restoration. i am planning to use a sprayed on bedliner when i assemble my truck. i use the truck for haulin stuff, but maybe down the line i will craft a wood and stainless panel to down in over the bed floor for nites at the burger stand.( i have a stack of black walnut boards to use) crm318 i used a heat gun and putty knife to remove a Line X brand liner to do some welding on a bed before. iwould not want to do the whole bed that way.

Re: Will a spray-on bedliner de-value my truck?
On a beater, no problem. But on anything else, I don't want bedliner or rust-proofing, but that's just me. It may not devalue your truck, but it may reduce the number of people that would consider buying it. Others would not care or even prefer it.

Re: Will a spray-on bedliner de-value my truck?
I say SPRAY IT.
My Truck is lowered and nothing but a couple Lawn Chairs, EVER gets put into the Bed, but as far as Spraying it, that is on my "To Do" list! I mean if your worried about Devaluing the Truck, then that means to me, that you plan on selling it, as opposed to keeping it. As far as a Truck with a Bed Liner in it, is "Beat", I don't see the argument in that. I'd be more worried, about buying a Truck with one of those ABS Bedliners, before I'd be concerned about a Spray on Bed Liner. My .02 cents worth.

spray on liner is the way to go for bed and underside/chassis coatings if you want to make the truck last. it doesn't peel, chip or let moisture get under it like you get with paint and traditional rustproofing. a concours type car show (duesenburgs, packards, etc) is not really the place for our trucks, so even on a restored truck i would see a liner as only adding value if done properly. i'd like to see more move towards restoring good old trucks that can still take a lickin' as they were intended instead of turning them into glorified cars. heck, i refuse to put an antique plate on my 72 burb c20. it's not a model T and does a heck of a lot more than drive 2 miles back and forth to car shows. it serves as a back up daily driver (except when it snows), principal tow vehicle, family hauler, equipment hauler, as well as weekend "fun" vehicle. Re: Will a spray-on bedliner de-value my truck?
thats sharp, the best looking bed is wood as far as "nice" my op, or a carpet liner with a cover, my wife has a bed rug in her truck with a hard cover like a big trunk i love it. But as far a spray in vs. paint i don't see any difference in price i really don't care what my truck is worth to others i'm not into this for a profit. I like the spray in myself i have one and use it no problems like said earlier, after all there still trucks.

Re: Will a spray-on bedliner de-value my truck?
Any Idea what it would cost to do a spray on bed liner and have it match the color of the truck? do most people just get the floor done or should i do the whole thing, tailgate and sides as well? Just had my truck painted but i still want to put things in the back without the worry of scratching the bed.

Re: Will a spray-on bedliner de-value my truck?
painting over it seams like its defeting the purpose for getting it? The paint will just scratch, chip ect leaving the black bedliner underneath. Just dont sound right.

Re: Will a spray-on bedliner de-value my truck?
if your bed is not that beat up i would paint it. I almost feel covering it up with liner is like when someone does alot of body work only to put it in primer or suede and then leave it. if you went all this way why not finish it. To me it looks like a cover up.

Re: Will a spray-on bedliner de-value my truck?
That was one of the things I looked for when truck shopping, i wanted a truck that had a liner sprayed in it allready so I did not have to spend the money on it.
I think it makes the bed look cleaner and if you use the truck its all most a must to me. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Will a spray-on bedliner de-value my truck?
If your truck is a very original truck....it will generally devalue the truck to a lot of potential buyers...not all.
Decide what you are trying to accomplish with the box area. Ie: hauling wood? occasional groceries? some minor auto parts and stuff? Consider getting a rubber (removeable) bed mat....or even a small end mat for inside. If you are really on a budget get a piece of plywood and simply paint it the truck color. Your truck, your call. Good Luck Coley
