Got the dash painted with the correct 518 medium green, thanks to some help with the color code from this site.

Re: Katrina/10

My cab is stalled, waiting on some corners and rockers to be installed. It's always good to save 'em from the crusher.

As for the Laguna....it's one of those cars from the mid-Seventies that some people just don't appreciate. That era was an awkward one for the industry. Making the transition from musclecars to economy cars really sucked, if you lived through it. We went from having it all in 1970, to wishing for the "good old days" and not getting any real relief until GM and FoMoCo got back into the performance game in the mid-Eighties.

Keep it up. You're doing good.

Progress is slow on the truck, but a little bright color always helps me think I'm getting somewhere! The Laguna is a great driving car, and I did a TPI conversion on it so it runs like a new car. They were never very popular, but I like it.

Those Laguna's are getting more popular and I like them anyway. They are now being welcomed into the ACES'(American Chevelle Enthuisiast's Society) family by the founder of our club Chuck Hanson who just happens to own two very nice examples of the Laguna's .I think they are finally going to get the respect they deserved all along .

There was a guy here in town that had a '74 Laguna S-3 454 4 speed car. It had always been garage kept, and was the gorgeous medium metallic blue (not sure what the color was called) and had a white interior with swivel buckets. I wanted that car so bad! I tried to buy it several times, but he gave it to his nephew who ended up totaling it and then putting the engine/transmission in a ragged mid 70's Camaro and then he wrecked it too. It made me sick so see such nice car get destroyed by an idiot.

That is a truly sad story. One of these cars with a big block and 4 speed is very rare.

Nice Save! The project is looking great. Where did you find that 69 cab? It's hard to find them here in MS and not be rusted out.

I looked for several years around here, and couldn't find any cabs worth using. A friend of mine in Arkansas bought the 69 as a parts truck and he didn't want the cab. He told me I could have it if I came and got it! Long trip with a trailer, but it was worth it. Cab was rust free except for a few small spots on the driver's rocker panel.

That's going to be one happy truck when your through!
I'm an expert on the hurricane thing, my home has been destroyed 3 times here in central FL and I was in Homestead when Andrew destroyed EVERYTHING. My job now is building Hurricane Impact shelters (Hospitals, Schools, etc.) so we have a place to hide
Good luck on your build bro.

Re: Katrina/10

It's been a long time since I updated this, but have been doing a lot of work on this truck that I posted in other threads. I finished the interior, painted the cab, and most recently installed the bumper, cowl, radio antenna and wipers.

I don't think I have any. Believe me, it was junk. I didn't plan to fix it, so I never took any pictures of it.

I tried to duplicate the original color combination on the truck for 1971, medium green with white top and bumpers. Fortunately the little studs on back of the cab for the paint divider were all there. I think it looks pretty good.

I just remembered, I still need to install the door mirrors before I can say the cab is finished. I have them in a box somewhere.

Wow, car looks great now! Glad you could save it. My truck was in Porteaux Bay during the storm, about 12 feet of water there I think. Truck got washed into the neigbor's yard down the street.

What is that satin finish you have on the car? I like it.
