Re: 56 project
I got a few more things done. It got borring at work the other night so I made some parts a new gas pedal and steering column cover. Over the weekend I also made my under dash covers, and used door clasps to mount them.

Re: 56 project
Just a thought, I cut my brake pedal down and it ended up being to short. The reason being I only checked the travel of the arm with NO vacuum on the booster. After I started the truck the pedal would go to the floor! Had to swap it out with another one!

Re: 56 project
When I set up the brakes I had my motor in so I could check it under operation, and thanks for the info. Thats just one of those things that can bite you in the ass later down the road.

Re: 56 project
What is the key next to the column for in the under dash photos? Door latches are an interesting idea.

Re: 56 project
Thats just my ign switch that I pushed up out of the way. And the door latches worked out great, they hold the panels nice and tight and just snap out for easy access.

Re: 56 project
Yea I do to ! But it's been 1 step forward 2 steps back. I was 1st going to use a 95 stepside bed so I needed to move my dif back 2" to fit in the wheelwells. Well now that I picked up a 56 bed I had to move the dif back to it's stock postion. The only problem with that is I C notched the frame for the 95 bed and now I can't get full travel at the stock location, so now I'm making a full 4" step notch. I"m getting rid of the leaf springs and am going to bag it. That will set me back a couple of weeks! But with this site I can find all the info I need to do it right.

Re: 56 project
I'll take some pics tomorrow. I know it can be stressful cutting on your doors but if I can't screw it up, It CAN'T be screwed up. I also will add pics of my home built trailing arms, step notch and front bag mounts

Re: 56 project
OK. Thanks, jjjmm56.
I was trying to do it with only one piece on the cab instead of welding two pieces together. I was hoping you may have come up with a way to do this. Please post the pictures still, though. And your truck is looking great by the way!! |
