Haha I'm not too sure! These guys seem to do a lot of business, but they work fast! when I went in the guy showed me a few of the vehicles he has prepped and a few he painted. They all look good and it seems like they get a lot done.

I step out my office door and tell them to get a move on. Obviously, this method may not work for everyone.
How did it turn out, Joey?

Re: Trucks gone for paint!

Hey guys! I'll have an update tomorrow. My internet is not working at home but I'll be in school tomorrow and I'll upload some pics. I'm happy with it. The guy put a lot of clear on it. There are some runs and weird spots in the clear that he says will come out when he wet sands it. I'm gonna watch like a hawk while he does it lol. He didn't do a lot of the stuff he said he would. I asked if he'd line up the fenders and doors, he didn't turn a bolt. Guess if you want it done right you've gotta do it yourself. I'll put up the pics tomorrow, thanks for the interest!

Re: Trucks gone for paint!

Here are some pics! I'll have to get better ones soon. There are some dents and weird spots but not bad for a cheap paint job. there are three layers of clear on there so its gonna shine..... after its sanded and buffed. I've gotta get it all together now but it seems like no matter what I put back in its either broken or missing lol

Re: Trucks gone for paint!

Now is when you run in to the issues of "well I thought this would be good enough to put back on, but now it looks to bad to on the truck with fresh paint". That sort of stuff will break you.

Re: Trucks gone for paint!

looking good, and no offense but i'd happily murder you in your sleep for that tailgate. Just sayin'... I'd definitely get new lenses for your tail and marker lights, but it's gonna look sharp when it's all put back together.

you are going to spend more than you did on the paint in new lenses, emblems, weather strip etc...of course you don't want to put rusted bumpers on a newly painted truck, right???

They are really not that badly priced from GM and are still available. The ones I put in my 87 fit like a glove perfectly. It's like those parts that come in a GM box are made for my truck!

Re: Trucks gone for paint!

Let me get to the shop and I'll see if I can find the invoices or at the very least get the information out of Mitchell, my estimating software. Off the top of my head I am wanting to say the outer belt moldings were like 40 each and the window channel weatherstrips were about 50 each.

Re: Trucks gone for paint!

Just remember, I buy with a discount. But I also know you can buy them with the same discount through online vendors.

Here are the screen shots of the weatherstrips most commonly needed when rebuilding a door. Those prices are retail. If you shop it you should be able to get at least 25% or greater off.
