face to face

I have met Phil a couple of times. He is just like many truck guys who spent a lot of years with these trucks and likes to tinker. I had some trouble with him trying to write emails back and forth but I probably need some edicate lessons myself. Emotions, character, values, etc are all real hard to convey in writing. I don't condone bashing anyone or demoralizing them. As I teach my kids, often this starts as a two way street. In the cases I've dealt with Phil he was very fair and didn't beat around the bush.

Sometimes I need to realize that we all can't see things the same way but we all have opinions. The common connection here is trucks. As I understand it this board is Joshs and many of us have contributed money to keep up on some of the maintenance. Rules are rules and I will not step in on others dealings. I wasn't there and don't have all the facts nor do I want them.

I was taught by my father who I realize more every day is wiser with age that the more friends I have the better off I will be. I try to make as many truck friends through the years as I can with most all aquaintances seeming like we are closer than we really are. Face to face meetings are almost always better than with the emails some started with.

Phil is having some health problems and I think these trucks and boards were giving him some mental therapy. I wish him well and would feel comfortable meeting him again. Not to beat this one anymore but I thought since I had met him a couple of times I had a more unique opinion of him. I know he has dealt face to face with others on the boards and I believe they might have seen the good ole boy Phil too.

Found this post by PhilJohnson in a thread that never mentioned Josh or the board.

The truck is look'n great Wes! How much is it gonna cost me when you are finished???
I just noticed Josh messed with his site or he pushed the wrong button again. My latest mystery ID screen name isnt working again. Guess I need another fake I.D. It took him over 6 months to find me that time!
New name, Same PHIL JOHNSON.. I just cant seem to keep myself from looking at his site. There are alot of kids there that need advice and they can't get it when all the old timers get the boot! They need to discover your site!
Take care bud. Next time you are on the "other site" , see how long it takes you to find me.. Im already there!

Sounds real mature eh? Thought the board members here had more class than to put up with such bs. I can remove a site from my favorites list I guess.

Thumbs up

Josh in one ear out the other is what I tell my kids when dealing with a immature trouble maker, and the delete button works well on emails from annoyances such as this as well as blocking the email address. Replying to such emails generally only brings further responses from them and is like banging your head on a wall the only thing your replies will gain you is the same thing banging your head againest the wall does another headache , shun & ignore seems to work best with this type of problem. The boards great and I recommend it to everyone!!!!!!!

I did ignore him for well over a year, (I generally had a good laugh reading them all ) but showing him out in public like this was the only way I could get people to keep an eye out for him. I have now banned every account he has/had on this forum thanks to anonymous tips from people. I am continuing to ignore his emails, and he claims he will not be back but only time shall see. Reading his posts from all his accounts, he actually uses them to reply to himself.... In the end this post did what I wanted, got all his aliases out in the open, and allowed me to effectively get him to leave the site...

Thanks for the support everyone

Josh,

You have created one of the best sites on the web and it is run for the benefit of members who really appreciate your efforts. It is really sad in a way that PJ spends so much of his time trying to bring a great person down.

Please know that we support you and your efforts.

Just my $0.02 here for what it's worth:

I call people who act like this Attention Whores. They live for and thrive on the attention. The quickest way to get attention is to keep sh!t stirred up. Don't give them what they crave and they will get bored and go away.

They are also childlike. Their goal is to draw you into an argument. Once you start to argue with a child you've lost the battle.

You've already made your case to this guy probably countless times. Don't keep trying to explain to him why the rules are what they are. You are Admin and it's your site to run as you see fit. He knows that, he just can't/won't admit it!

If you have a new member join and start making trouble and you are sure it is him, ban him without explaination. Keep a record of all his user names and IPs. If you're not sure it's him then a one time referral to the rules is appropriate, with no further explaination.

Like Paul said, delete e-mails and Pms from this guy after you save a copy and do not reply. A reply continues the arguement and gives him the attention he so desperately craves.

Josh, some people need to grow up...maybe he is jealous of your site. Anyway I check in every morning and at 40 years old I don't think I'm a kid, and I pick up answers and useful info off this board all the time. Keep up the good work.
Later, Gord

Thanks Josh for this site. I inhertied my Dad's '71 and this is my only information on how to keep it running.

Jerks like this don't waste their time with small, insignificant websites. Every good site on the net periodically has to deal with someone like him. Its unfortunate, but apparently the price we must pay for the ability to share such great information and comradary.

Some people have no real power in everyday life. What he is doing is a perfect example of someone trying to obtain some. This is the only way they can even come close. He thinks he is the one pushing buttons...the cold hard fact is that every single time he comes here and tries to stir sh!t or feels the need to respond to someones post ....his have already been pushed. Still reminds me of those bullys in school. Trying to find something to smile about. Pathetic. Now who is this parts suplier???

For Me being new around here I have seen nothing but good advice, Or good Ideas to help solve some of the many problems we have with these old rides.

The loss of someone that thinks it's funny to Harrass anyone is no Loss.

Josh I'm sure you know that you have started one of the Top Chevy sites on the web. You have every right to do with this site has you see the need to do. And as you can see from the other posts you have the support of the Members.

Reminds me of the spoiled rotten kid in the neighborhood. He wants to call other kids names such as STUPID and MORON when things don't go "his way." But as soon as the other kids do the same to him he goes home crying & pouting.

Once he realizes that the rest of the neighborhood kids are having fun without him and could care less whether he plays or not, he decides he wants to re-join "the group." He then realizes that the other kids will have nothing to do with him now that he has shown his "true colors," so he stands in his own yard, all alone and yells insults across the fence.

Must suck to have that big ol' yard and all those toys and have nowhere to brag about them anymore.
