Re: slammed 57
Well I installed some soff seal door seals and it knock off all my door pannel alignment with the cab . They did settle in quite a bit, for they been on for about 3 weeks and I pushed the truck in and out out of the garage into the hot florida sun hoping it would form better which they did ,but still about a 1/4" off. so I decided to split the door sills and push them out where they need to be
I appolgize for the side ways photo, I forgot to turn my phone sideways to take a picture but here you can see about a 1/4” difference from the door and the cab And now after spiiting the door jam and welding into place, back to where they should be. WHEWWW! Got a few more goodies . this will keep me busy for the next 2 weeks. Iam welding in a smooth dash so I decided to pre install the a/c system for it would be easier to mock up before welding in the dash. If i didnt do it this way it would be a nightmare to put in Last edited by slammed57; 10-11-2018 at 06:06 PM. |

Re: slammed 57
graphed in the one piece dash yesterday
Also squeezed in the vintage air gen iv unit( its a big unit and tight fit due to the engine set back ,but its as snug as a glove).. after i cut out the original dash I mocked up the condenser, pre- ran all the lines, bulk head fittings made sure there was enough room for all the vent runs, and defroster vents, welded in threaded studs so the fire wall remains clean. If didnt do this when the dash was cut out and would have put the smooth dash in first, it would have been a nightmare to get it all put in.( Thanks rick mellon for that idea ) If you look way down there you can see how i ran the A/C lines and the heater lines just hidden under the A/C lines ( for a clean look with easy maintenance if need be,, the dryier is tucked up under the fender Found some pre-molded heater lines so I can run them where It needed to be. put in a more compact size hood latch and relocated |

In the last pic showing that hood latch spring, does anyone know where to source one? Mine is missing and I have not been able to find one. |

It at 2 degrees at the moment. I haven't set the motor in yet or added motor mounts to the frame..I still have to do the fire wall and do set the motor around the same time...after is which I will set the degree the rearend. I just have to see when I get to the point.....with most 4 links you can adjust them Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: slammed 57
working on the passenger side , adding a new step/rocker and cab corner. in the picture below you can see how the bottom of the cab corner on the driver seems more narrow than where it meets with the rocker. So i started fabrication a new one on the passenger side. Still needs some final tweeking before it gets welded in.

Re: slammed 57
Made a little more progress the past few weeks. I finished up on the passengers step and lower hinge pocket and had to tweak back them into shape( for they were twisted slightly and the doors had poor fitment due to it) the last owner did not install the steps that were replace before properly.
I also started fixing the driver door gaps, still have the back side to finish up...... painfully SLOW and tedious work had to also replace inside the door jamb/ step area for they were beat up pretty good __________________ |

Re: slammed 57
nice work
one thing about tightening all your door gaps... these trucks move. a lot my door gaps are twice as wide as yours and have chips in the paint from contact with the door frame

Re: slammed 57
well got a little more done today. filled in the door gap on the back side of the door...almost finished with it , just gotta work the up where the mirror mount area and shave up by the curved part of the window post to complete...Also got a new (well new to me) air compressor. and put my old compressor on semi-retirement
This is my old compressor (sears 10cfm 30 gal) which my dad gave to me 15 years ago which it used to be his...He bought it in 1968 and he/we built probably 40-45 air boats with it among trailers and other things....it still runs ok i guess...its to sentimental to me to get rid of, so i'll give it to my son as he gets older... mind you he's only 15 yrs old. but it will be good for him to have to air up tires and small projects And now for the BIG BOY 2011 (curtis 24cfm 80 gal) did i mention I LOVE NEW TOOLS , LOL |
