Nothing like a fresh walleye, filleted, battered in cracker crumbs, and pan fried. We got 'em around here too.

Re: Minneapolis to Seattle- Operation Superhorn Retrieval!!

Jud,
Made it out of the shop today and ventured down to a local wrecking yard, They only had 6 of our trucks in the yard at this time (next week may be different)
Here are pics of 5 of them, there also was a 67, for some reason I missed getting pictures of it.. None of them had good cabs..

Looks like Budget truck wrecking in Auburn. All the little stuff is mostly gone. Just body panels are left.

Another bump.
I think you should hitch up with livrat if you can. I think he would be one of your better connections.
Mark, if the 68 gmc top grill bar was available and decent...

Eric, As of yesterday the top bar was available, I walked right by it as I was on a mission for a particular part and didn't need or want it, By the time I could make it back down there it may get crushed.
They get between 200-300 trucks a week, they are down on 67-72's this week, normally there is at least a dozen.

Re: Minneapolis to Seattle- Operation Superhorn Retrieval!!

2000 miles so far and trip is going well. too tired to download much but here's some pics. 1st one is not ours but some other lucky one got this 68 K20 in Montana. 3rd one is outside a place with good food at Seattle waterfront. 4th pic is from our stop Ellensburg, WA today on the way back to Spokane after visiting Mark (Livrat) and Frank (Pikmup) out west. Big thank you to both for taking as much time as they did and hooking us up with such nice rustfree parts! Taylor never imagined he'd be bringing a nice toolbox home either. Need to get the longhorn on trailer tomorrow am then off to MT to pusue some things we scoped out on the way out Saturday. Last one is Bozeman on sat.

Re: Minneapolis to Seattle- Operation Superhorn Retrieval!!

Got the longhorn loaded and everything positioned with much help from the previous owner Randy. The truck is indeed nice. After getting it reloaded we had to change a trailer tire, buy more tie straps, and get lunch. After that we hit the road and even had some time to get off the beaten path in montana and take some pics. Made it to Missoula today

We're loaded pretty heavy and could definitely feel it on mountain grades on the MT/ID border. Here are some more pics from today including a nice cornbinder at gas station next to where we are spending the night

Was great to spend time with you and the other guys also and your blazer and crewcab project are definitely inspiring! Taylor and I were still processing all the info you gave and stuff we saw Monday throughout the next day We both looked at the one photo and said it looks like theres a huge dent in my truck bedside (to the left of my left hand in the one pic I'm in). That is a wierd reflection- glad that didn't actually happen! thanks again for all the great parts and spending time showing us around. I still cant get over how nice this cab is and what all is out here!

I did too. Man that Longhorn and those parts are super nice! Just swing on down to Ia and drop off that Longhorn.

Thanks for posting those pics. That bridge pic, and the pic of looking down at the truck and trailer are too cool! I'd like to make a trip like this some day!

We did have to put new tires on the trailer and the shop mechanic said it was due to exceeding the weight rating by only one pound

Re: Minneapolis to Seattle- Operation Superhorn Retrieval!!

Made it home a few days ago after being delayed a few hours getting new tires on the trailer and hitting salvage yards in MT really hard. Feels good to be home but it sure was a great trip that we won't forget! Met a lot of nice people on the way, found many great parts, and had many laughs. It was fun to not have any reservations and be free. We even slept in the truck a couple nights.

We did blow out a trailer bearing but it must have happened within the last 25 miles of the trip. Dodged a bullet there. We exited the truck at 3 am in my driveway and smelled something burning. It turned out to be the left rear bearing (or what was left of it). The cap and all rollers inside were gone and the wheel was about to fall off. I am still stunned by it though since I greased the bearing buddies before the trip and it was nice and cool all of the trip, including the last time we checked them all 4 hours earlier when we rolled through Fargo. We had to pour a bunch of water on to cool it down since since it was smoking. Anyways enough so here are some more photos of adventures in Montana. Last two are two 50th's- last one is right off the interstate in another lot.
