Re: best FREE part you've been given-67-72only

One of my grandson's gave me a front clip for a GMC, at least he thought it was. After I took it apart I found out I had one '69-72 fender, one GMC fender, a GMC radiator support and a Chevy hood. I never told him, I figured it was the thought that counted.

A guy I know gave me a '68 Chevy hood.

But the best thing I have been given for these old trucks is a bunch of useful information from this forum. I spend a lot of time on here, it is more fun than watching TV, lol.

Re: best FREE part you've been given-67-72only

A board member in the military here in metro Atlanta was quickly tranfered or shipped out and he posted on this site his project truck and parts for free but they had to be out of the garage by the end of the week. He was already gone and the home owner whom he was renting from was handling it.

1972 GMC short, fleet, big block, tilt, ac truck. No running gear or bed sides.
A complete factory AC system in a box.
2 nice GMC grilles
An extra AC dash
4 Camaro style rally wheels and BFG tires
Boxes and boxes or new and used parts

It all filled a car trailer and a truck.

Fine69 gave me all the tinted glass except the windshield after the first Ohio Boardmembers meet. Didn't know me from the man in the moon. Thanx Mike. It looks good.

I thought trades weren't allowed? Just kidding, you got a pretty good list going there.

The guy who built my engine is into 67-72's and he gave me some of the odds and ends I needed when I swapped from the 351 V6 to the 350 V8. Can't remember exactly what he gave me but I know he gave me the bellhousing I needed, the right PS pump, some chrome valve covers, and a dizzy hold down.

Re: best FREE part you've been given-67-72only

CPNE gave me a door hoop so I can cut my NOS burb front door and make it a truck door... I also traded him a set of 67-68 steel grille hoops for a 1/2 gallon of new hampshire maple syrup!

willnik gave me a horn button once,
sourkraut and I are always helping each other out
bigblockchevy have me a door sill, and I gave him a 67-68 steering wheel at a different time...

Made a lot of good buds on here over the past few years, great community...

In my short ownership the nicest thing I've been given for free so far has been a Tach Dash with all the gauges (minus speed warning.) I haven't decided yet whether or not I am going to use it yet though.
