Re: SO-CAL/I.E. '67-'72 Truck Club?

I'm in Alta Loma / Rancho Cucamonga as well. I'm in, even though it may be a few more months before I can drive my truck.

Re: SO-CAL/I.E. '67-'72 Truck Club?

OK- without stepping on any toes 3 guys doesn't sound like you got any major thing going.
I'm willing to put my experience with other clubs including working for "The World's Largest Rod & Custom Organization" The Goodguys for 3 years and Sport Truck Magazine both as Editor to put together a decent Newsletter and get some real interest going. I know what it takes to put on events for as many as 10,000 entrants so getting a truck deal going for 50 or 100 people shouldn't be a problem-
I'm ready to get this started! I realize there are probably other clubs, but this will just be another new one.

And I think we should include ALL enthusiasts out protecting our country no matter where they are originally from. Wally Parks (founder of both the NHRA and future early Editor of Hot Rod Magazine) first put together a newsletter for fellow hot rodders during WWII to keep them up to speed on the U.S. hot rod scene while they were protecting our country all over the world.

Yes, I'm a Veteran too!

No reason you can't stay in the loop if you are out and plan on coming back.

You guys are a little too far north for it to be a regular thing for me, it would cost me $100 just to drive there and back. I've been looking for something like this around here and have not come across much. There are a number of us that are from San Diego area but i am really surprised that there is not a lot more.

Re: SO-CAL/I.E. '67-'72 Truck Club?

I am down for a local club. My dad is treasurer of the Over The Hill Gang, Lake Havasu City. I have been around shows and clubs my whole life. Here are some of my dad's toys and shop : http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=383004

His 58 Apache is moving along quickly now that he is done with the 38. It has a 454 BBC, 4 speed, and is tubbed and SLAMMED. I have some pics I took on Christmas vacation that I need to dig up and post.

Re: SO-CAL/I.E. '67-'72 Truck Club?

WOW! My Dad has a '38 Ford too! We got it in 1981 at the Pomona Swap - not quite in this shape

The '29 Roadster was built in 1962- NOTHING has been changed!

I built Green '31 RPU while I was at Rod & Custom Magazine. Was on the cover and later used as my SO-CAL Speed Shop L.A. shop truck. Dad owns it now.

'32 3-Window was built in 1969- getting freshened up now with a 700hp Small-block!

Some more of the fleet. The '56 was my first car- one-owner little old lady car, dad decided it was "too nice" and I never drove it! There are a few more Tri-Fives and early Fire Engines (dad was a Fire Chief).

Thumbs up Re: SO-CAL/I.E. '67-'72 Truck Club?

This past summer, the C/10 Club in Northern California organized a "cruise-in" to the Brother's Truck Show here in So Cal. I believe we had over 20 boardmembers combined between Nothern and Southern Cal, and we all rolled in as a group. We set up EZ-ups and had a massive cookout/feast in the process.

I say we try and double the participation this year

CPP is hosting a truck show here in So Cal on March 12. Northern Cal members are already planning to attend. This could be an excellent 1st gathering of ALL members here in the state, and make the Brother's show in July the next BIG gathering.

Re: SO-CAL/I.E. '67-'72 Truck Club?

Jim, I shied away from posting pics of my dad and my '29 roadster p/u here but you kick the door open Dad was a Prowler for years back in the 50's and got transferred to N.Y. and never built another rod until we bought this one several years ago. He is 77 this year and out there every day wrenching.

Here it is when we bought it

The engine after rebuild

New Dutchman rear on original tubes

It is in so many pieces now that it is hard to get a good photo of any progress, but he wants it to be fifties style like when he was in the Prowlers

I grew up going to car club picnics and would love it if we could get a So Cal club defined, but like I said, it might be difficult to get up to the meetings regularly.

I would love to jump in with all of you, but I am just a little far north. If you have any event closer to Santa Barbara or with in 60 miles, I will be there.

Yes like Zepp said we will be heading south to the CPP shop Tour / Cruise in March 12th. We will be traveling over 600 miles round trip so it will be a great place for all Nor Cal & So Cal members to meet.
