I have driven 84 W from Boise to Portland many times...no problem with cell phones...it is an easy cruise. I've got lots of family in Boise.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I did follow some of them, though the only thing I ended up using was a cresent wrench (roadside timing adjustment). But, I was prepared for much worse. I posted trip results and pics here.

I just took a 500 mile semi vacation in my 68. The things that put my mind at ease the most was spare, jack, cell phone, and an Atlas of the back roads of Texas. I also took several tools, a gallon of water and a quart of oil. The 68 loved the trip and it went off without a problem.

One thing I always bring is a set of wheel bearings and grease. You can store the bearings in the grease can.

I made a similar trip a couple months back where I flew to ABQ and bought a 69 burb and drove it back to Florida. I just went to Sears and Walmart when I got there and bought everything I thought I may need then when I got home I returned what I did not open. I did not have any issues on the road so pretty much everything went back. i did not feel this was dishonest because I did not open or use any of it.
