Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build

Hey, I have an 85 Square body that has a 5/5 drop, and it sits perfect. As far as C Notches, you won't need them unless you go lower than 5/5, all you have to do is remove the factory bumpstops and your good. Look under the forums but everyone I have talked to/seen says they never hit either. Heres where I got mine from its all DJM so its good stuff. http://app.infopia.com/Shop/Control/...44235232251238. Only thing you have to do other than putting the kit on is if your running ralleye wheels you have to shave like an 1/8" off the calipers where the wheels hit.

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build

Most of the floor under the seats is done. Seats/console fit, drive shaft clears and carpet should not be to difficult to do under there...Now on to the trans hump...not sure how its going to look yet...

Got our brackets for the rear C5 Corvette brakes, thanks to Clint (87chevy.com)...

We will put the cab off this week and get the frame and stuff ready for the blaster. I'll finish the trans hump off of the frame so that we can move forward with the drive train and frame. Then we will start the body work on the cab...Shoot'n for a roller with cab for Turkey Drag in Tyler on December 1 & 2.

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build

Thanks dad( he posted them from work, his computer is a TON faster there)
After we got it off of the dolly, we noticed it sat alot lower on the passenger side( maybe 1 in) My dad and i found one of the leafs on the rear springs is diagonal, thus relieving the pressure it would be applying making the truck sit lower on that side. when i get a flip kit i will fix that in the process of installing the flip kit. First, the grill guard is coming off. then im going to tear out all of the soft stuff in the interior since i wont be driving it for a while. Any other suggestions. Oh, anoher thing, the cab corners aren't that bad. Any other suggestions?

She cleaned up nice. Makes me want to start the father/son project with my son. But he is only 18 months now so we may wait a little longer.

Yeah, I'd say he has a while to wait. Get him brainstorming now though!

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build

Well we got some work done on it, mostly disassembly. This was done about 10 days ago, we are just now getting to posting pictures. We have been busy and Korbin is running Cross Country at school, he has to be at school at 6am for workouts.

We got the motor and trans out and the brush guard removed.
Here are some pictures, sorry about the quality, they are from my cell phone...

after getting the trans out, we pulled the two apart and found a problem. Mr. Kilgore said he never heard it make any noise...

it came off with just a tap of a hammer....

Here is a small friend we found while cleaning the truck at the car wash. She is about 4" in diameter...

Korbin also got the seat and carpet out this past Sunday.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

I need to subscribe to this one. I've got the same plans with my son next year, so I'm glad to see this type of story.

Good luck, Korbin!

By the way guys, is it just me or do you all hear a kid's voice when reading Korbin's posts?

This is gonna be a great build thread!

Wow, hope the flex plate is the only problem.

Truck really cleaned up great - 100% improvement!

Nice progress!! Why didn't you put the spider to work? It is big enough to tote a wrench.

Not knowing what kind of spider it was, we thought it best to leave it alone...Korbin jumped back a few feet when he saw it only inches from his hand while cleaning up the truck .

Thanks guys, Korbin is not feeling good today so no posts from him.

As for the broken flex plate, we have always planned to put another engine in it anyways. I am going to tear it down to see what else could be wrong out of curiosity...

I may look for a 5.3/4l60 combo...we have a few years to decide that....
