Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

Thanks Ryan, I'm getting to know it slowly.

Thanks low elco, I have one of those for the 4 pin connector but I want one that handles the brake controller too. The bumper had a outlet on it but I want one like on my newer truck so they'll both be the same. No adaptors or anything. I'll check them out. thx.

Thanks Todd, Its growing on me.

Today I got him off of the trailer. Thats right him. My wife has named this one Charlie(scratch that, Tonto is his new name lol). Since he's a worker she said. I put the new water neck gasket and thermostat on and adjusted the hood. I fixed the passenger speaker that wasn't working. But it rattles a lot so I'll replace the speakers with my extra sony's. Someone that put the speakers in didn't do it right imo. They didn't cut the hole large enough for the speakers and mounted them from the inside. I'll trim the hole bigger and mount them the right way. I don't like holes in doors but their already there. They also wired the radio to a hot with ignition term. on the fusebox and not the radio plug. The fuse was blown on it. Fixed that. Now it plays with the key on acc. or to the left for you new guys. lol all in all a good day.

Good deal sir, I wish I could work on my truck this weekend but I'll take my good news over turning wrenches any day!

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

Remembered I had this this morning. Same original color but 68 GMC. its my backup for my other project. It had a tailgate band on it so it has those holes. If I ever restore this truck I may use it.

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

Well I'm sitting here watching my Cardinals losing game 7 NLCS so I went to cheer myself up by taking some more pics of my truck. I took the steering wheel cover off and no surprise its cracked @ 12 and 6 o'clock and some more little ones on the sides. Luckily I have a buddy(Rus) that had one and a horn button. We are working a deal on payment thru parts/$. I will likely do the install this weekend. This truck steers like no other I have had. Its so easy to turn.

I got some pics of the spid and noticed that this truck was ordered. See bottom right corner of spid. And some random shots of interior.

Ha Yeah. I've got my fine toothed comb out. It wasn't too scary getting it off the trailer although my dog did flip over when I fired it up lol.

This cab needs patch panels. I will plug up the holes for this winter.

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

I put in a little work on Charlie today. I put the rest of the woodgrain on the drivers side that needed it. I still have to do the tailgate band. I took the white mirrors off. They will be replaced with a set of stainless ones that I bought from budnikguy here on the board. I also recut the hole or trimmed it so the 6x9 speaker would fit like its supposed to. I figure its already there so it might as well fit right. I trimmed the cover for it also. I put a lock on the side tool box door too. I have a few pics.

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

Thanks guys. I bought a tailgate band for it that will look better than the one thats on it too. Painted the shift indicator housing. It had chips on it. I still need to get a white tilt pointer for it though.
