Question Shimming after swap?

I went from a 350/203 to a 465/205... Torqued everything right while apart... But after i got done my starter just makes a... Growing/grinding/horrible noise and it won't turn it over... The flywheel looks good, it's brand new... 11" if i remember right. How do tell how much it needs adjusted? How do you adjust it? I tried the starter off my 350 and it made this noise, so i pulled the one off my c30 parts truck which looked pretty new, and same noise... Help! I'm ready to drive this thing lol
