Re: Just picked up a '99 Tahoe Sport

Just trying to help a member out. I bought them for my tahoe (black set off ebay) and had them on maybe a month through the summer until i grabbed a set of TYCs with the built in HIDs they came with. I will never go back lol.

The smoked corners are cool and help get your eye off all the orange. But i think the heads and parking lights should be clear as day IMO. You can always silicone up the ebay lights well but you never know. Every time i washed the truck or it rained they would fog up and be useless haha

edit heres a small few pictures. First one is all smoked

second is tycs and smoked corners

Re: Just picked up a '99 Tahoe Sport

Thats a nice lookin' Tahoe! Those wheels are my favorite factory Chevy wheel from that body style. I do like the way those smoked headlights look, but I need to be able to see more than I need to look cool. I have the black park lights and projector headlights on my GMC, and have been lucky that they don't get any condensation inside. I've looked at the projector lights for the 88-98's but they just don't look right, having a round projector light in a rectangular housing. It will be a little while before I get a set of lights, so I have a while to make up my mind. Thank you for the information.

Re: Just picked up a '99 Tahoe Sport

Well, against atomichoe094's advice, I decided to try the smoked lens in the front. I also smoked the taillights and 3rd brake light with some VHT 'Nightshades' tinted clear. Came out pretty good - I also gave it a coat of regular clearcoat after tinting them, just to give them a little gloss.

I also took some old chrome exhaust tips I had laying around, sanded them down and painted them with some satin black engine enamel and welded them on. I tucked them up high where they just peek out a bit. The black paint helps hide them too.
