Re: New to Forum with a question
The more you have unless if has a Draft tube meaning another hole next to the distributor then you might have a 307 or a 350 cus all 260-283-327-and large crank 327 in 1966-67 nova's had the draft tube hole 307-350 400 396-427 454 has no extra hole
3970010 3970014 3970020 are the numbers your looking for for old blocks 350's Now the 3970014 is a hard block to find it had high nickle content and was only 1 year 1968 first Year of the 350 but they only put it in 1 ton and above rated trucks. Most engine shop dread this block there boring bar lets say it puts a major beat down on there bits. Most Race guys or drag guys would pay you 1000 to 2000 for a standard block they love the RPM"S. Here are a few pics of the 327 with the extra tube and the 3970010 350 block |

Re: New to Forum with a question
Well, it took long enough -- sorry. But the results are in.
3970024 It's a 307 =\ I guess it's not terrible, but I would have liked to have bought a 350. There are another set of numbers right above that I can't figure out what they are telling me. Above it, it says K23 71. Last edited by 70olbo; 04-17-2016 at 06:42 PM. |

Re: New to Forum with a question
Nevermind! Figured it out. Casting date of November 23rd 1971. Does this mean the motor isn't the original since it's after the year of the truck?
Thank you all for your help. I'll be posting again shortly because I believe I have a wheel cylinder leaking so I'll need some help there! |

Re: New to Forum with a question
Would anyone happen to know the answer to above?
VIN for truck comes back as 1970 .. Casting date for motor is 1971 .. Is that safe to assume it's not the original motor or was there any variance in dates between the engine ID and the VIN? I searched a bit but couldn't really find an answer. |
