Re: Project Anna (71 2wd Blazer)

After mush hassle the metal finally arrived. Some how the steel got shipped to someone 6 states away with the same name. Fortunately for me he was nice enough to ship it to me, so now I have enough steel for 2 crossmembers or extra incase I screw up. Hopefully I will be able to make some progress tomorrow if I can find someone to fill my gas bottle for the welder.

Re: Project Anna (71 2wd Blazer)

glad to hear you're getting back to working on it. DO you have any ARCET dealers near you? Or check craigslist for welding supplys or tanks and you might find a deal on a tank or two...

Re: Project Anna (71 2wd Blazer)

So the crossmember is going to take forever. I spent 6 hours and I am still not half done, it took me 2 hours to do the front and back plates. I need to learn to quit being cheap and just buy the stuff instead of make it.

Re: Project Anna (71 2wd Blazer)

Well the lower half is almost done. I have officially decided this is a pain in the a$$. If anyone else is planning on saving a few dollars building there own DON'T!! I am getting close to the same price as a dropmember and I already had all the tools. A few things I have learned. First use 3/16" not 1/4" ( thing weighs a ton), use P&O not cold rolled (much more expensive, use the highest quality tools available they do make a difference. I believe I will be buying the rest of my parts.

Re: Project Anna (71 2wd Blazer)

Im quickly losing interest in this project. 2wd's just dont seem to be my thing. I have the lower half of the crossmember done except for the lca mounts and I have one of the uppers done. Everything seems to be fine and it has 0 camber through most of the suspension travel. Now I need to do the other side and finish welding it, if I continue this project.

Re: Project Anna (71 2wd Blazer)

I have another 10 hrs in the crossmember and I am finally getting close. All I have left is the lower control arm mounts are in the way of the rack so I need to redo them and I have to make the mounts for the rack and engine. The rear notch should be here tomorrow and the new cam (comp big mutha thumpr) and valve springs (ls6) are on the way.

Re: Project Anna (71 2wd Blazer)

After a little time away from this project, I am back working on her. I have the 4l80e in, all of the brake system arrived today, and the new crossmember is ordered from cpp. I gave up on my front crossmember for now, I just ant to get her driveable as I have owned her for over 5 years and have never once driven her.

Another change of plans. I ordered the T-70 today. Hopefully the 5.3 will hold 10psi and around 600 hp.

Well the second try went a little better. I have a water pump and I may even be able to run A/C.
