One issue i'm having is Insurance, even though i'm not using it to tow stuff, i still have to do a commercial policy. What a pita.
You should be able to get insurance from Progressive. That is the way I had to go with my '77 GMC dump truck that I use here on the farm since my car insurance would not cover it.

Re: Wreckers are so AWESOME.

Little women is my agent, she found a company that will cover it as an antique, full coverage, established value (gotta get a value) for $100 or so a year. I'm very happy about that. It won't be towing anything on the road, yard maybe but not the road.

Re: Wreckers are so AWESOME.

Re insurance - can you register it as an antique or historical vehicle in your state? If so, you may get a better insurance rate with your no-tow provision. And, if you guarantee not to work it as a wrecker and just play with it, you may get decent collector's insurance through Hagerty.

I'm not sure who she got to insure it, but with a NO tow provision it was 100 a year full coverage.

Re: Wreckers are so AWESOME.

What color was it? Or is it repainted in the original color? It seemed odd to me to see a dark green tow truck,unless it was a company color for a fleet. Then,it would likely have had lettering. Don't get me wrong,I like the color. I've had thoughts to paint mine medium green since the cab and clip were swapped and that color underneath. And,the way red's peeling off the back of the cab it may end up green!

Re: Wreckers are so AWESOME.

I was running numbers on the 72 and grabbed the numbers off this truck,

Casting block numbers. 3996635 (i think, i ran it but no luck, i want to know if its a 327 or 350)

A new stamp 23337754

and the old one K0320DC

Can anyone make sense of these. I'm assuming its a reman engine or rebuilt.

I'm going to stop looking for info on my trucks, it just keep getting worse and worse.

Re: Wreckers are so AWESOME.

According to NastyZ28's site your engine decodes as follows:
K0320DC
K= St. Catherines, Ontario (McKinnon Industries Canada)
03= March
20= 20th
DC= 1969 307-200HP

The other Number is a partial VIN. If it came in your truck the last 6 digits would match your VIN
