Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: Eric's 1966 Turbo 6.0 build

Cool build. I'll tag along. I been wanting to do a turbo for quite a while now, but have held off mainly because I never done one and little gunshy.
Keep us posted.

Re: Eric's 1966 Turbo 6.0 build

The weather has been perfect for carwashing! being insanely busy and installing some new equipment has soaked up almost all of my time. I did get my bedsides delivered and the sheet metal work is DONE! Also have my under dash fuse panel installed for the engine harness I'll attach some pictures I have so far, and some carwash pictures because why not.

Re: Eric's 1966 Turbo 6.0 build

My budget Home Depot compressor wasn't happy with the start of body work. So I bit the bullet and upgraded. It's safe the say this will be the last time I buy a compressor in my life! 80 gallon 5HP. 25 CFM. PLumbed it into a refrigerated dryer ( my air tools are happy!).

Re: Eric's 1966 Turbo 6.0 build

I really wanted to do a column shift for my 4l80e. I spent a ton of time calling ididit, flaming river etc to see if it was possible. I got 3 different answers. No, Maybe, And it might, but not shift through all the gears. So i went with a Ratchet B!tch shifter from Kilduff. I think I'm gonna be happy. The left stick shifts like a normal shifter, while the one on the right ratchets one gear at a time.

Re: Eric's 1966 Turbo 6.0 build

Bed came off and I built a somewhat sketchy stand so I can work on it. Took the truck outside and wire wheeled and sandblasted everything I could on the frame. I sprayed it with SEM rust converter and it's waiting for paint now

Re: Eric's 1966 Turbo 6.0 build

Mocked up the boyds tank with the A1000 pump. USed some existing holes in the frame, and welded Nuts and washers inside the frame rail. now the tank can be installed or removed from the bottom easily.

Re: Eric's 1966 Turbo 6.0 build

I thought I was the only other person who ever ran a kilduff shifter lol. Boss Kilduff is a trip man, cool guy, but very much an enthusiast-run biz. I like that twin stick model! I've run his Twister shifter for around 5 years and haven't had an issue. Plus no one ever knows what it is.

Great progress. I love the Kilduff shifter, I plan to pull the trigger on a lightning rod shifter in the next few weeks.

Love the progress your making. I was looking for a new shifter, think I found one. (Maybe like the one you have) I was wondering what in tank fuel pump you are using? Thanks in advance for the info. Have a good night.

Mine is a boyd's ank with an A-1000 pump. I didn't want fueling issues with the turbo. for a NA Ls swap you could get away with way smaller

Picture dump in progress! Final hood, doors mockup done. Disassembled the bed. I planned on re using the cross members and front panel, but decided to replace them when Brother's Trucks had their spring sale going on.

Re: Eric's 1966 Turbo 6.0 build

So far the hood has been Primered and Blocked twice. we ended up finding some imperfections after the first coat. Beyond time consuming but knowing that most body shops would have stopped 2 steps earlier keeps me going. I'm gonna be afraid to drive this thing!

Re: Eric's 1966 Turbo 6.0 build

This is the bed assembled. perfectly squared and front panel DP epoxied and bolted in for good. The rear crossmember is also bolted, welded and epoxied.
I modified the tailgate with parts from s chevy colorado. I modified the tailgate to accept the half circle part that makes it so you can remove the tailgate without taking the hinges off. ( like the newer trucks). Added Mar-k stainless straps and latches. Filled the holes in the gate where the chains were before.
