No Limit 63-72 Rear Shock Kit

My setup is just like BugzC10 so if anyone comes up with a length it would be appreciated. Also I was wondering if anyone has tried to keep the stock shocks as well as adding the kit? Either by flattening the OEM bottom mount and putting new one on top or putting OEM mount on top of new one? Not sure how much extra anti wheel hop it would help or not. I have a Vortec 5.3 with Texas Speed 2.02 / 1.575 heads, 228/228 600/600 LSA cam and 42 lb injectors so she runs pretty strong. Running Nitto Extreme RT tires, 20's roughly 11" wide. If your looking for a good tire these surprised me, they came on the truck and are a drag radial/track combo. Being my first set of low profile tires I expected them to be rock hard but they hook up pretty damn good.

With 4" of spring drop it should use our "A" length shock, 12.75" closed, 21" open. RH is appx 17" +/- 1"

Where on the chassis are you taking the RH measurement?

BugzC10, I was wondering the same thing and I think he's talking about the shock travel deminsion. So between the compressed length and extended length since everyone would have different tire heights etc making ride heights all over the place. I'm going to call around based on his numbers and subtract 2 more inches for my 6" drop and get a shock number for each.

From the center of the lower shock mount to the center of the upper shock mount. - As the truck sits at Ride Height, fully assembled, correct air pressure in tires.... just as it would be driving down the road.

Just ordered a set from your store w/o shocks. I believe the lowered shock I'm currently running; Doetsch Tech will surfice. The RH is within the tolerance you provided. When I pull them off I'll verify the min and max dimensions.
Is the Doetsch Tech a very good shock? I bought them through CCP when I lowered it.

I don't have anything to contribute to the shock length, but I have the ECE lowering kit (4/6) and like the upper rear shock mount setup on the No Limit kit here. Instead of buying the entire No Limit kit, I found a member here who re-use his ECE lower shock mount bracket and simply bolted in a new upper shock mount to the frame. The upper shock mount is actually the same as the shock mount in the front suspension that goes into the front fenderwell. Photo of this mod: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1401036485

Looking forward to doing this mod to my ECE kit, along with replacing the crappy KYB shocks from the ECE kit with the CPPs that I ordered. The Ride Tech shocks were out of my price range.

And look at the lower mount.. it is twisted..
and look at the lower shock bushing it is allowing the bolt to not stay 90* in the bushing..
That mount needs metal on both sides of the shock bushing/mounting or at least a tubing sleeve like the upper to keep the bolt going 90* and not deforming the bushing. but that might cause tire fitment issues.. The metal on both sides of the shock mounting would not..

Ok so I know I probably missed it but what's the advantage (if any) of relocating the shocks? I mean it looks cool but do they function better? Also would a monromatic stock replacement work with this as if I do end up doing this I don't want to replace the shocks I just bought. And is it only for lowered trucks or does it work on stock ride height vehicles

With the gas tank being relocated as below, I would think the tank would need to be dropped to access the upper shock mount. This is not my truck, but one I had saved. I don’t think the tank would interfere with the brackets however. As you can see you still have access to swap shocks easily if the need should arise. The bracket would be more difficult to remove with the tank in the way.

I think I'll be doing this mod when I swap out my rear diff with a rebuilt posi unit, hopefully in the next few months. My fuel tank has been relocated, and I can't get a wrench or socket between the tank and the frame rail. I also don't want to drop the tank as getting the fuel filler hose onto the tank was a real chore. To gain access for the brackets, I may drill a couple of holes on the lower frame rail flange beneath the bracket location, and connect the holes with a cutoff wheel to make some slots for wrench access.
