Then taking a little page out of ChiefRocka's book, I started running some wires. I opened up the loom and extended the factory wires to make them longer and re-wrapped it.

I need to do a little work on the relays still. The horn doesn't work. I set it up just like the headlights. But I think I know what I need to do to get it working correctly. Here is what I did:

Placed the black wire out of the loom on terminal 85

Placed Placed the grounded conductor on 86

Placed the wire to horn on 87

and the 30 terminal got it from the relay.

Now, on the lighting circuits this should work. On the horn it doesn't. I believe that the black wire coming from the horn button is actually a switched ground. It is not the 12v feed that the relay needs to activate the contacter. Sooo..... this is what I think I need to do.

Leave the black wire from the loom on 85.

Supply 86 with a constant 12v source. You can take it from 30, but I am going to take it from the battery side of the circuit breaker.

Leave the wire on 87 to the horn

Leave 30 the same.

Now, since 86 is the 12v source, once you hit the horn button you will supply the ground for the circuit, closing/opening the contactor in the relay and supplying terminal 87 with the power from 30.

Right?

You got it...the Horn button sends a "negative" signal.

Clean and sanitary install.

Looks good. I can't wait to start on my wiring as well. Stupid self said I had to take it all apart and paint the frame first. Hahahaha

I like how you used zip ties and heat shrink tubing. Its a must in my opinion when it comes to wiring. Solder all connections because twisting the wire ends and electrical tape just doesn't cut it.

I really like how your hiding wires. I was seriously considering going with factory harnesses, but man that looks really spiffy.

Yes, you have it right......the horn button grounds to the column to complete the circuit.

Well, it has been a long time since I posted in this thread. haven't done much. We have bought our first home and I had a whole lot of honey-do things to take care of. I also had to get my first garage the way I want it. I added airlines airlines in a few spots; work bench, outside in car port and one on the middle of my wall. I ended up building a platform and putting my compressor in the rafters. I wired it to a switch and a dummy light so I don't get waken up in the middle of the night.

I also had to build my shelves for storage, add a little work bench and install 3 8ft lights. The last thing to do was get 2 pair of wheel dollies so i can move my truck around (really to get it out of the way so the wife can still park in the garage

Now that the list is done and my garage is ready for it. I moved the truck in. While it was at my cousin my plan was just to get in running and on the road. But now that I have my own place and my own garage, I plan on taking it completely apart and reassembling it piece by piece. It will be a long process I am sure, but that is half the fun, right?

Her it is in its new home. I started the tear down on friday.

Progress will be slow, but slow progress is still progress.

Went to the parts truck yesterday, finally. It was a very nice 76*, sunny Southern California day.

Pulled out the sawzall and went through 5 blades, but got it thru..........

I pressure washed it a little and brought it home. I had to take it apart in the bed of my truck we had a hard of enough time trying to get in in the truck with 2 people. There was no way I was getting out by myself.

nope, going to keep it six. but while it is a rolling chassis it will be rockin the rare 8-lug/6-lug combo.

why not use the 6 lug stock swap and run six in front with disk...I did looks and works great.
