Re: My new project the White Whale.
Looks like a great foundation. You could try a heat gun and putty knife

Re: My new project the White Whale.
Sweet ride!!
The white with the red is an all time classic and a favorite of mine. Btw if you use a heat gun to take out the insulation, use a fan to blow the fumes away from you if there is any, but if I was doing it I would leave that in there and just add more over it, if its clean and does not smell bad. |

Re: My new project the White Whale.
Thank you. The seats will do for now. They really need all new covers but cleaning them up will be all that my wallet will allow for a while. I just don't have the extra funds to do Everything that I want right now. So getting it up and running correctly is where my money will go to start.

Also, it is not sound deadening, it is vibration dampening, as is Dynamat and similar products. You can read everything you ever need to know Here at Sound Deadener Showdown. If you want to quiet sound you have to put down something with mass. A lot of people use MLV (Mass loaded vinyl), so putting Dynamat over top of that is just a waste of time and money. I had to get a lot of that off the floor in my suburban, it didn't take too long though. A lot of it came off easily with the knife, the rest I only had to use the knife to get most of it off, then use a little heat to get the rest, then wiped the floors with some lacquer thinner and all the residue came off. |

Re: My new project the White Whale.
Spend a little time working on the truck yesterday. Put the hood on top of the truck for right now so I can have more room to work on the seats.
Here is the first test fitment of the front and rear seats along with the center console. It's pretty tight in there, I thought there was going to be a little more room really. |

Re: My new project the White Whale.
Made some progress over the weekend. We got the motor removed from the 2004 Suburban along with the transmission and t-case.
Also, the one 17" wheel that I ordered from Summit is due to arrive tomorrow. Going to test fit the wheel then look for one used tire to also test fit before I order anything else. Going to be ordering motor mounts this week. We planned out the fuel system for the truck and looking into wiring harnesses. Also, tonight I'm going to take the seats back out of the truck and try to use the old bench seat frame to mount the new 04 Seats for the rear seats since they sit so far back right now with the 04 Seat mounts. Hopefully we can get that to work as well. Anyway, making some progress, I'm happy about that. Nick |

Re: My new project the White Whale.
Got my new US Wheel Rat Rod 17x8 6-lug wheel in and test fit today. I only ordered one to start to check fitment. I'm also going to try a used tire in the size I think I want before I buy nicer tires as well. I'm looking at 245-50-17's for tires. Not sure if I'm going to run the same size front and rear or two different size tires. They do make the wheel in a 17x9 as well.
I purchased the wheel from Summit. $95 shipped. https://m.summitracing.com/parts/usw-68-8860 http://www.uswheel.com/products/ratrod Last edited by nastety92; 02-07-2017 at 09:30 PM. |

Re: My new project the White Whale.
Just ordered motor mounts today.
CPP mounts https://www.summitracing.com/parts/c...80NBoCo4Pw_wcB Dirty Dingo Sliders http://www.dirtydingo.com/shop/produ...oducts_id=1443 Looking forward to getting these so the engine can be placed in the engine bay and we can make plans for the rest of the parts that are needed. Next up to order is a new fuel tank, then onto a wiring harness for the engine. |

Progress is progress. I like the wheels. You probably don't know for sure if everything is going to work until you get a tire mounted but it looks like you won't have any clearance problems.... LockDoc

Re: My new project the White Whale.
Thanks, yeah just trying to pick away at it one piece at a time. I really want the Detroit Steel 20-22's but these are what the budget allowed right now. I think I'm going to go 17x9's in the rear. I've been looking for used tires in my area to test fit but have yet to find one close enough.

Re: My new project the White Whale.
After dealing with other wheel companies through the years I try to use detroit steel as much as possible. They are the best company who get that customer service comes first. I understand the budget thing too. But man do look good on our burbs.

Re: My new project the White Whale.
Got some more work done on the truck tonight and last night. I good friend of mine helped me build a frame to mount the 04 seat cushions on the brackets from the 67 rear seats and a custom frame that we made. Looking forward to test fit it in the truck tomorrow.
I'm going to paint the whole frame bracket black once I double check to make sure it all fits first. |

Re: My new project the White Whale.
Got the rear seat test fit today in the truck. The seat fits great and bolts right into the stock seat bracket mounting holes. Now there is plenty of room between the front bucket seats and the rear bench. Also test fit one of the wheels in the spare tire location and it fits pretty good. Picked up a few more tires and I'm going to order the rest of the wheels this week as well.
