tank location

I am in the process of fitting a '94 tahoe/blazer 30ga FI tank behind the rear axle.

The ONLY reason all those pinto's went up in flames is the tank straps were hung with all thread rods in the front and behind the tank and the threads make a nice spark when puncturing a tank, as for the crown vics I think its all the equipment in the trunk being shoved into the tank and the magnitude of a 60mph v.s. 0mph hit.

As for me good luck getting thru my class III hitch, it'll take a huge point load (+15ksi)to shear the 6-A325 bolts and/or tear out the hitch and move it the 2 inch gap I'm giving it, if its a frame to frame hit of that magnatude, it won't be the tank that kills me.
