Re: S-10 door rubber review time
So these attach to the cab and not the door?
do you have to drill holes?

Re: S-10 door rubber review time
The attach to the exact same location as the originals....just slip on with no glue.
Find any newer chevy truck 1988-current, and pull down on the weather stripping. It will unpinch from the metal. Then you can place it right back on and it will stay. Those are the same exact seals that we are talking about.

Re: S-10 door rubber review time
Has anyone ever tried other model seals like silverado? Why the s10, just curious. The new trucks seals install the same way like putter just said.

Re: S-10 door rubber review time
I started with S-10 ones(and for some reason mine were 1.5" too short), so my new ones are actually 2004 Chevy full-size extended cab (with extended cab doors) seals. And they are the same thing as far as I can tell.
So, just find ones from GM that are long enough and you should be good to go.

Re: S-10 door rubber review time
Has anyone tried trimming the S10 rubber to help the doors close easier?

Re: S-10 door rubber review time
I pulled a set off of a 94 S-10 Blazer that just came in.
They were about 1 inch short but fit great otherwise. Took all of 5 minutes.Since they were already broke in the doors shut like they did before. Jim Dam I like workin in a junkyard! |

Re: S-10 door rubber review time
OK, I read all of this about the seals. Do they just magically stay on the cab(NOT THE DOOR) when you place them, what? No glue is nice but what makes them stay in place?

Re: S-10 door rubber review time
I pulled a nice set out of a 90s suburban and the grooves that snap/push over the body pinch are full of sticky black goop sealant. I have never used them yet because they were so sticky. Was this an improvement to keep the water from getting in?

Re: S-10 door rubber review time
There's a clip in the rubber that grabs the lip around the door to keep it in place.

Re: S-10 door rubber review time
you can crimp it to the metal lip on the cab if you have to, there is metal inside the silverado seals, done this many times on ex-cab trucks when the seals come loose.

Re: S-10 door rubber review time
Hi everyone.
We have stopped selling the 82-93 S10 door to cab seals, as replacements for the 67-72 trucks. The manufacturer tighten the specs for the length on the s10 seal, so it can come up short on a 67-72. We have chosen a seal that's almost identical to the s10 door seal, but this new seal has a slightly smaller diameter so the doors don't have to be shut as hard, and it's also longer. I still have the first set of S10 seals on my truck that I put on about 3 years ago, and still have to shut the doors pretty firmly, especially with the windows all shut. Les @GMCPauls

Re: S-10 door rubber review time
They are reproduction seals, that come with a lifetime warranty to the original buyer. The seal we selected is probably used for several different applications, we selected it based on the diameter of the seal that contacts the door, and the depth of the "clip" or push on part of the seal. The 73-87 and 88-98 door seals were considered, but the seal on those is larger than the S10 seal, so it would make the 67-72 door even harder to shut.

Re: S-10 door rubber review time
I just got a used set off a 97 S10. Fit perfect and shuts nicely. The seals I got look brand new and are nice and soft. I did take them back off, cause I'm getting ready to paint the truck.

Re: S-10 door rubber review time
Just Got A New Set From Gmc Pauls And If The S10 Ones Are Harder To Close Than These Then They Must Really Hard Too Close Because These Are Harder Than Heck Too Close Really Have To Slam Too Close And Another Thing I Didnt Like Was The Box They Came In Said They Were For A 78-93 Dodge Pick-up And I Hate Dodge Pick-ups But They Were Very Easy To Install
