or use them as a partial trade for a 67 stepside

Is it possible they're just really nice bedsides someone stripped and primed and then rusted?

I don't think so. I can't find any place where they cut the factory welds and the holes that don't have any bolts in them don't look like they've ever been bolted on.

Re: NOS SWB bedside ????

well, repros cost $900ish so asking $1,100+ wouldn't be a hard choice for most. Don't know that they would bring $1500 but there's a buyer for everything ya know....

I would have paid $1000 for those in a heartbeat. I have seen NOS (with stickers) on here for over $2500. Not on my budget but it works for some. I have a set of repros at home if you want to compare some photos.

As far as the name??? PNOS (Prior NOS?), and it sounds like Pee - Nos

Of course they are short PNOS one's though...

NOS (New Old Stock) made by GM for replacement parts. They only make them for so many years after a model stops being produced (say 10 years?).

Reproduction is made in Taiwan (thinner steel usually, not exact die stamps like original etc...) Some things are ok, some suck, all need a little "tweeking" to fit just right.

NOS or original OEM is the best replacement part. Like some of us in the midwest or northeast, we can't find nice original due to rust. South/North west people on the other hand have it nicer since there is usually plenty to choose from...

Re: NOS SWB bedside ????

Rob, I think I have the answer... Under the bedside lip (long part that a camper shell would sit on) my repros have multiple holes in the innder skin. Both sides are like this. My original GM's have no signs of any holes under that lip.

Let me know what you find out...

Re: NOS SWB bedside ????

and the last one...

Also, where the innder skin meets the rear stake pocket my repros look terrible. They are 1/8 - 1/4" from fitting snug...

for most parts, yes...

some places still have little GM items and others have some GM licensed items but for the most part, all sheetmetal on the internet is reproduced.

Although you will see lots of names (Goodmark, Tri-plus, Dynacorn etc..) only a few companies actually make the stuff. I don't know which parts are which though. Then they ship to all the vendors (LMC, Truck Shop, Brothers etc..) and they resell it.

Tri-ProAutomotive is a vendor here and Jon could give you tons of info since he is one of the larger importers.

Best prices are found at car shows since you won't pay tax or shipping. That's what I have found atleast. I am no expert by any means so this may all be BS but that's what I have noticed over the past couple of years.

Expect NOS to be twice as much as reproduction on some parts. Some things aren't made yet either..but they are filling the needs of the market (full floors, 67-68 grilles, LWB sides coming so day)

Re: NOS SWB bedside ????

Rod, If you decide to sell I may be interested but need to ask a few questions. It looks to me that the rust is considerable enough to leave pitting once the sides are blasted? What is your opinion?
Would there be any pitting whatsoever? Thanks.

All rust is very light surface rust and should clean up with ospho or light sanding.

Re: NOS SWB bedside ????

just talked to rob, if everything checks i will be buying the sides. i came up with one other detail and we wanted to post this info to make absolutely sure they are gm sides. i was told that the brace that bolts to the bottom side of the front wheel opening has a welded in brace for support on a gm side, and on a repop it just has a hole punched in it for the bolt to go through. if someone can verify this i would appreciate it. if everything checks out, looks like my truck will go under the knife.
