you should be able to buy the floor panels to replace them or fab them your self keep up the good work bro and keep the pics coming.....

Today i got the cab painted, found a couple of defects in the body work but decided it was good enough. I also got the temp patch done on the passanger side and welded in a brace in between the rear cab mounts. I also sprayed the box black to match, nothing fancy, just wanted it the same color.

Thanks for writing up this thread. I am just stripping my cab down to fix the rust and have some of the same problem areas as you. Mostly on the driver's side as well --- my passenger isn't too bad though.

I've been considering a donor cab but to me it doesn't feel like the same truck if the cab has to be swapped out to fix it. I guess I'm a little weird!

Great to see that you were able to do such a great job on yours!

Today i installed the seat and box. Replaced the weather stripping on the pas door and vent window. I got the dr door and fender preped for paint, hopefuly tonight. Should have it buttoned up by tomorrow.

I was able to get it back on the road sunday night and i drove it to work monday morinng. It is a lot more solid and quite then it was before. I will be ordering a carpet kit for it soon, so i dont half to look at the weld job all the time. The body lines came out good considering the amount of repair i did. I am going to the inlaws and plan to stop at the pick-a-part and see what other goodies i can find.

Went to the pull apart today, got a serpentine setup, stainless mirrors, gas tank brackets, fuel door assembly, and some small brackets and such all for $80, Very nice.

Got the cab trim on with a little doubble sided stickey tape and topper tape. I also put on the dr side mirror from the junk yard.

Put the pas side mirror on and some other items. Installed a washer pump/tank from a 90's model, what a great add on that was. Cleaned up the outside and the inside. Hopefully i will install the serp setup on tuesday.

Got my pas side power window working properly, and then started in on the serpentine conversion. I about an hour away from compleating the conversion. It went prtty easy, i also replaced the intake and valve cover gaskets since they were leaking. The radiator also has a stepped inlet so the 90's style top radiator hose fits really good.

Could you post some pics taken outside in the light of the repairs you did please?

Preferably looking straight on --- I'm trying to follow what you did on my repairs for my truck and am running into some speed bumps!

Serpentine conversion compleate. It is much quieter and no more power steering squeel. Next i want to turn the ac into an air compressor, and i have a headliner repair to do. I had ran a tape around all of the pulleys and got a measurement of 97", so i bought the 95.5" belt option for a 94 and it fit like a champ.

Gordon here are some pics, hopes it helps. When i do the rust repair i always put the door on and fit the gap to the top and back edge. This will give you the gap to fit your cab corners and rockers. Also make sure that if the cab supports are rusted and saging you jack up the cab in a solid location, like the pinch weld by the steering column under the hood. If you do your repairs in a sagging condition nothing will ever line up.

Considering the labor to pull it out if it "grenades" along with the added cost of having to upgrade later because of it, I'd personally spend the money & do it right the first time....

I'd rather have a one wheel wonder than a gov lock. They are JUNK. I bought an 83 farm truck and the gov lock CARRIER WAS BROKEN IN HALF. All those small parts come apart and get caught in the other parts. You'd be better off getting racing axles and welding the spider gears together than a gov lock. Let us know when it breaks. I have seen 10 bolt auburn posi's in drag cars and have NEVER seen a carrier break in half before.

Odd all of this concern about a diff reminds me of an old story. I man was riding his horse one day when all of a sudden without any warning it fell over dead and he went huh, its never done that before. I have had standard axles blow apart before as well, so we will see. It has been in since 77 so if it breaks it would not suprise me, if it doesnt so be it.

I need to redo the front suspension, the springs are worn and the front sags, especially with the hd springs in the back. I saw a post where someone lifted the front with a mixture of newer parts, it would also be nice to have the newer style brakes. I am thinking of switching it to 6 lug find a 14 bolt light duty rear (3.73) and getting some newer style rims. I also have a 700r4 to rebuild for it and install. Then i need to finish the body work on the passenger side and box. Then my work truck should be done. Any ways just some thoughts. Oh yeah I also am planning on installing a second gas tank, have the brackets and fuel door already.

Just got word that i have a new 20 gal gas tank and sender on hold until my wife can pick it up, $75 thank your craigs list. Now if i could only find everything else for 1/2 off.
