Re: 1972 c10 conversion to a LSA powered k20 build thread
While it is still at this stage, you guys misplaced the "super" emblem on the driver's side. Common mistake seen on restored trucks. It always goes under the Cheyenne portion of the emblems on both sides, not more on the right hand side. Just thought I'd help ya out ahead of paint. Trevor

Re: 1972 c10 conversion to a LSA powered k20 build thread
Is it going to be stock height or is there plans for a lift? And if lifted what tires/ wheels will you guys be using.

Re: 1972 c10 conversion to a LSA powered k20 build thread
The truck will be getting a 4" lift kit, and I believe the tires are 285/75/18...they are at the tire shop right now, so I can't look...but I do know they are 34" tall.

Put in the new 4" lift springs, then mocked up the motor and transmission.

Re: 1972 c10 conversion to a LSA powered k20 build thread
Maybe I don't understand. The LSA is just like any of the other LSX blocks right? How are you mounting the engine thought you needed a modified crossmember

Re: 1972 c10 conversion to a LSA powered k20 build thread
The engine compartment was then mocked up with the radiators, fans, and other misc components for clearance and mounting points. The guys also fabricated a custom engine cradle for the LSA.

Re: 1972 c10 conversion to a LSA powered k20 build thread
Ok though maybe you found a top secret way. This amongst other things is why I'm leaning away from an lsx swap. Wish I had your tools and skills. That is gunna be one sweet ride

Re: 1972 c10 conversion to a LSA powered k20 build thread
Thanks a lot guys...the truck is really coming along nice.
Here we cleaned up the rest of the frame to get it ready for sand blasting, and fabricated mounts for the gas tank. |

We mocked up more components to the truck's cab, and started on its body work.
