Re: what a joke on ebay
This truck can easily have 14k in parts, if all the work is documented as he says and parts add up fast. It would be a great start for someone who could drop another 8K on a paint job and you have a kick a$$ Big Block with killer traction, killer horse power and others.

Re: what a joke on ebay
idk about 140 buuuut ive personally done 110-120(not sure as the gauge maxes out) and it wasnt shaking at all and thats with a 350 and a 3 speed with od. granted i was probably closer to 6k rpm but the point is built right i could easily see 140 out of these trucks no prob.

Re: what a joke on ebay
I have over $20K in my project truck and it's still in a million pieces. I would not want to be in that truck doing 140 miles per hour. I'm not ready to make my wife a rich widow. That guy is smoking some good weed that floats in with the current from the drug runners on the high seas. Without an airbag suspension on that truck and just dropped with springs and spindles it is a ruff ride especially at 140.

Re: what a joke on ebay
It would have been nice if he would have included a few pictures of the frame, suspension, transmission etc. as this is what one will really be buying at the end of the day. I can imagine what the underside looks like if there are no pictures of the work that has been done.
I will not comment on the $26.5 he has invested in this truck. As far as the $14.000.00 he would like to get for his truck why would anyone pay this .... think about it for a moment or two. Before I would pay that I would add $10,000.00 to that hard earned $14,000.00 bucks and get a turn key ride or build my own ride and know what I have and where it's been. Just my .02 worth which ain't worth much. esll.

I never believe a comment about speed based on a gps. now,if you are clocked on a police radar and show me the ticket I'll believe you!

Re: what a joke on ebay
I can see where he could easily have thatamount of cash invested in that truck. I would look totally different if he would have done all the body work and paint first and had all the goodies waiting to be installed instead of vice versa.
I agree that I hate seeing bragging and such in auctions and people trying to sell their unfinished projects as a "ratrod". As far as the 140+ mph comment, Back when I first got my 70 2wd swb and before I did any suspention work I hit about 4550rpm with 3.08 diff gear, TH400 a 396ci and 235/70/15s, I didnt want maintain that velocity for long but it didi do it.

Re: what a joke on ebay
I used to bury the speedo in my '72 all the time. 350/350 I think it had 3.73's, motor redlined at 4500 rpm with an RV cam.
Smooth as silk. I think 140 mph is very possible...

Re: what a joke on ebay
Fair is Fair, Certainly we are all allowed opinions. I once belonged to a International Organization that was covered on television. ESPN to be exact. We had a good thing going for a while but do to the negative input from a bunch of guys they dropped us like a sack of hot potatoes. Everyone has a value they feel things are worth and that is each persons right. Now if someone is willing to pay the price is another question. I stood in shock when a Chevelle sold for 1 million plus dollars at Barrett Jackson. So who was the foolish person the seller expecting it or the buyer paying it. I have a project that will exceed over 40K just in parts and sublet labor. Should I expect to get more for my efforts? I sure hope so but that will be decided by the prospecting buyers and demand. So just to say a bit of concern for others views can lead us to better things for ourselfs. I don't direct this opinion to anyone specific it's sometimes good to let people have their own beliefs and let the chips fall where they may.

I,like a lot of people, have decided to sell off projects from either financial need or loss of interest. This guy seems to have let his despairation come through in his ad. Buyers can sense it and it usually holds prices low. My most successful approach in selling for top dollar is what I refer to as the take it or leave it. I represent my goods as honestly as possible including the bad. I've had buyers tell me that they felt I was almost trying to talk them out of buying. I'm up front about any warranty, usually none and that the deal is closed once money changes hands and the handshake is done. On occasion I felt it wise to put pen to paper to CMA and make sure that both parties are clear on terms. It's been a pretty sucessful practice. as for the truck it's definately not the $100 dollar beater but in my area I've seen similar trucks ( a 68 step, built late model 454, late model step bed, auto meter guages, and air ride) sell for around 3. That's a far cry short of 14,000 I have about $5500 + the cost of vehicle in my burb but I'm realistic enough to know it wouldn't sell for that no mateer how badly I needed it to. Josh |

Re: what a joke on ebay
I'm not into bashing another man's truck.
He would probably get more by selling the parts seperately, but I wish him well either way. As far as the bragging part. It's kind like fish stories, they get a little bigger every time they're told.

Re: what a joke on ebay
I think this is a case of dumpin' $$$ in a project and should do a some more to sell.Like some more pics would help. But his investment and return with the mph story might have hurt.
