That would void the warranty and probably only net a very minimal set of the pants improvement.

If you wanted to drop a little coin some small chamber heads, improved intake, and then a cam/valvetrain upgrade would result in a nice combo and the short block should be solid but for that kind of money it may be better to find a 350 core and build an entire engine that is all matched up pistons/heads/valvetrain etc.

Good points. Kinda what I figured. Might still go for it just to freshen the truck up. Might pursue more hp down the road.

Re: Great deal on new crate engine

Couple questions for those that bought them...

My flywheel is getting pretty old and they're fairly cheap, does anyone have the correct P/N for one for a 700R.

I also have a 2 o clock balancer/timing tab on my current motor, what's recommended for these motors? P/N? I don't want to reuse my balancer.

They've sold 152 of them. That's $183,614.48 worth! I may have to bite the bullet, I can't seem to find a decent 402BB for the '71 Mini Dump Truck...

That goes all the way back to August, they've sold 11 at the current price. I think big companies like jegs and summit keep the same auctions for parts year round?

They have sold 3 more of them since I first looked at them.

Estimated Delivery on mine: Tue. Dec. 10 - Thu. Dec. 12...

I called Rydell Power Train here in Iowa (where I bought my last one) about a price match and the rep said their cost is only $200 below that price and they couldn't sell them for that and ship them for free.

I would just call them on that. I would think they would give you the online price if you told them what the deal was...

From member Yote.

Don't ever go "over your head" for a toy. Ever. I have all the crap I have because I waited and kept things simple, like driving the same daily driver for 9 years that's been paid off the past 6.

If it's not the right time, it's not the right time. I got a completely unexpected Christmas bonus that paid for mine.

Re: Great deal on new crate engine

No problem. Same here. Locals wanted ~1600 + tax, and I've been wanting one for a long time. It will probably sit in the garage a couple months, but hopefully will go in around feb.

Awesome flashed.

Sold 9 so far today, if you think about it, that's A LOT of motors for old vehicles for a single day.

When I bought the one for the Burb last year from the place I mentioned above it was $1,608.00 delivered to my door and that was the best price I could find then...

A new engine for about the same price as a good set of aftermarket heads. I'm tempted to order one just to keep for a spare.

Re: Great deal on new crate engine

I was curious about the shipping... a lot of "free shipping" on motors means you have to pick it up at your local hub (which I would have been fine with) so I had to ask:

Quote:
Dear jegsperformance,

I can't imaging that a crate engine will be dropped off at my door, will I have to go to my local ups, fedex, etc? hub to pick the motor up?

Thanks!
Quote:
The engines are usually delivered directly to the
customer's residence unless specified differently by changing your shipping
address with PayPal prior to ordering. They are delivered on trucks with
lift gates so they can unload it right in your
driveway.

Thanks.

Yeah, did that a few years ago for about $1400 after shipping right to my door. That is a killer deal and they are perfect in older trucks, plenty of low end power for everyday use.
